1986 Ford Crown Victoria LTD Station Wagon for sale on BaT Auctions - ending November 14 (Lot #127,474) | Bring a Trailer
Out of the two posted by Mark today (the other being the maroon '78 Colony Park...), I'd prefer this one. It's even located in the city I was born in - Culver City, CA (on the west side of Los Angeles, just a bit north of LAX) The west side of LA is great for cars. Not the searing heat that the inland areas get, and also dry enough that you don't get stuff 'growing' on your car, either. If you live within say 1/2 mile of the beach, you MIGHT see some mild rust formation over the years, from the ocean air, but aside from that, it's all good.
Yup. That's a California coastal car from the LA area and as long as it got driven semi-regularly I wouldn't hesitate to own it and no sweat on the "rust." And as much as I love that '78 Colony Park, this car is way more practical to drive around and easier to park. Just watch out for that TV cable assembly on the throttle body - Ford used plastic on them in this era and they have a tendency to get brittle and crack\break with age and can smoke the tranny quickly if not caught in time. The comments about the original radio make me laugh because Ford cars back in the day with first generation digital radios (that weren't Lincolns) had notoriously terrible reliability and performance, even when they were only a few years old.
Maybe it was the white paint. I have a hard time imagining why someone wouldn't have jumped on this car at that price...
