NOTE: This is not my car, nor do I know the seller. I'm merely sharing an ad that I found online.

I also wondered about funeral home duty, but the back of that wagon has not been modified by the looks of things, could have been just a flower car.

Does not mention if the wagon is leather or vynal, iether way I think that is a deal and half for it. I'd wear to say, I'd love more than X(y)

The problem with dead people cars, IMH and let me add superstitious opinion which I expect no one else would hold to, I just can't get my head around cruising in a wagon that used to haul corpses. I know there are many hearse lovers here and good on ya - but I just have this "thing" about what was hauled around in what then became my car. :162:

Dead engines, tranny's, other car parts back there, okay, that is just fine with me and maybe there will be a couple of good parts back there when I buy it, but the thought of some poor bloke, or bloke'ette, riding in a box in the back just gives me the willies. :whew:

Like Tedy said, chances are it was just a flower wagon, but still.......

Has anyone ever seen a Mercury Grand Marquis wagon of this vintage without the wood grain before? I know that by the mid-80s, anyway, the Colony Park base trim was the equivalent of the base Country Squire including wood grain. I have a feeling that the wood grain, and the associated trim, has been removed from this one, and that is what gives the funeral car look to it. Somehow I doubt this was ever used to move dead folks, though. It doesn't have the stance of the ones that were modified to take the weight of a casket. Also, most of those had the 351 under the hood. He doesn't show enough of the interior of the wagon to be able to tell if it is leather or vinyl, either.

Mike, I believe you could get a Grand Marquis wagon without the woodgrain in '81 - even in later years. Don't even think it was a 'special order'. May have been special order in the later years, but not in '81.

79-81 for sure you could get no wood, not sure of other years. as for it's stance, I remember those years as having there @zz up in the air so to say. My 80 Colony all stock had that stance and when loaded it sat like the later years empty.

I wonder what the story with this pair is. Were they always together? I would imagine that the wagon was for funeral service.
