I usually don't share ads from Facebook Marketplace, but this is a wagon that we usually don't see. It looks familiar to me. It's obviously not an '88. Appears to be in great shape. I included screenshots of everything from the ad. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/737187594769251 Seller's Description Pontiac Bonneville wagon, loaded, all original 5.7 350 v8 Pontiac loaded rear seat wagon in great condition,Florida old folks car,c.b radio, radar detector, alarm, power everything drive it home, new brakes, tires, cold air,no rust or accidents, original paint, stored in Florida since new in climate building.none nicer for money.
I agree, it is definitely not an 88 if it is a Bonneville. By 1988 Pontiac wagons, I believe were Parisians. The unfortunate thing about the Parisian is that it was basically a caprice wagon and it had lost its “Pontiacness”
Basically the same as my '81 Bonneville Safari, the only body difference being the grill - the '81 had more vertical bars in the same opening. You could also get the Pontiac 350 in the '80, but not in the '81. My '81's grill.....
Nice car but I'm not a fan of those seats. Is that factory? Looks like they couldn't make up their mind on which style to go with.
Yup. That's the factory vinyl seats for the Bonneville Safari then. Mine looked a bit different as I had the cloth.... The rear-facing third seat in a GM 'box wagon' was always vinyl, unless you paid extra for matching upholstery, or you had the Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser, in which case a matching third seat was standard.
They stopped making the Pontiac 350 in 1977. The last year for the Pontiac 400 was 1978. After that it was only Olds or Chevy engines of that displacement and the only Pontiac v8 option in 1979-1981 was a 301 or 265. You could still get an Olds 403 in 1979 but by 1980 all of the big cube engines were gone unless you bought a diesel Olds or the occasional model that still offered the Olds 350 or Buick 350 (wagons I think were the only ones and only for federal emissions).
OK, let me correct my errors from a couple of days ago. I was delving into the 1980 Pontiac brochure that was on line, and I didn't see all the pages I needed to see. I'll link the whole brochure here. There's no 'table of contents' for the 52 digitized pages, but here are the important ones: Full-sized Pontiac brochure layout - pages 14 through 21 Station wagon brochure layout - pages 38 through 42 Station wagon specifications - page 43 Full-size Pontiac specifications (except wagons) - page 46 Here's the short version on engines: 301 Pontiac V8 was 'Federal' certified for the standard engine in all full-sized 1980 Safaris - except California 350 Olds V8 was 'California' certified as the standard engine in all full-sized 1980 Safaris sold in California 350 Buick V8 was optional, except in California 350 diesel V8 was optional across the board - Federal or California. As an aside, there were two versions of the 301, standard and turbo. The turbo 301 was cast from a different metal and was stronger. in 1978, Pontiac discontinued the standard block, knowing they were going to phase it out, and all 1979 and 1980 engines used the turbo block so they could get rid of all existing stock.
