    Wow! Beautiful!

51k miles, and it looks it! Not really well optioned, but a looker nonetheless!
Interesting option choices: a/c with tilt and cruise, AM/FM stereo and Rally II wheels but no power options. Interestingly, it does have the factory gauge cluster, but not the factory clock! We're not told which engine it has, either. What bolsters the originality and the miles is that it still hast the original-type argent silver wiper blades - those are no longer available - same for wiper refills where you can keep the original blades. This Safari has been in hibernation somewhere. ;)

It sure is a beauty! Sadly no 3rd seat either. I would rather have 3rd seat and power options before I would want the wheels.

Also, strange about that clock... it is there (at least the numbering), but the guts aren't. LOL. That is a weird tease. It would make one wish they had of ordered the clock on down the road, lol. Also, I would think the clock would be standard on this top-level model. In the late 60s-mid 70s the clock was standard on the top of the line models.

Seller seems to be very honest with his description and pics. This one has two items that mine doesn't - the gauge package and a manual remote Rt mirror. Of course, I've got a few things this doesn't.

    I'll be watching this one......
The low equipment level is going to hurt the value.

It's really pretty! Let's see what else we may learn from the auction of this very sharp '79 Pontiac Bonneville Safari wagon! :2_thumbs_up_-_anima

Oh yeah, someone had put one of those engines in my old '69 Pontiac Executive Safari and that engine was a piece of crap!

The 301 is definitely the least desirable engine!

Yeah, but you could drive it 'til it breaks, then replace it with a Pontiac 400 or 455.

    What a cream-puff!

I agree changing a engine is much less intimidating to me than say redoing a head liner, recovering seats, or body and paint work. And a 455/400 or even a 350 4bbl Pontiac would make that a very nice driving car.

Just the opposite for me. The idea of taking out an engine and trying to hook everything up for a new one sounds really hard. I'm sure I COULD do it, I just haven't yet.
Tell you what, you take care of swapping my engines, I'll cover your interior work. Deal?

How is the 301 the least desireable when the next couple of years they made another cutdown of that, a Pontiac 265 (4.3L)?
