I know she ain't a wagon, but she's still a boat. I am selling it to get another wagon, though. As I am going to be having a further commute and need something with fuel injection and better gas mileage. I would also be interested in trading the car for a Buick Roadmaster wagon or a Chevy Caprice wagon (1991-96), woodie in good shape. Ebay Item #260473396104
Looks to be in great shape. I'm thinking those are not the right wheel covers; are they off of a Pontiac. I'll bet if you got some original Buick wire wheel covers and put on whitewalls instead of the raised white letters, it'd look a lot more like the classic it is. I'm also thinking you'd probably be able to get alot more for it with those two simple additions.
I think they're Caddy wheel covers, but I could be wrong. I bought them because they were the only period ones that I could find and the tires are brand new, so I'd hate to swap them, and I'm broke, so i don't have any cash to put into her at the moment. That's why I'm selling. But I do agree that it would look much better that way.
Actually, the wheel covers are from a Ford Torino Elite. Most Elites were ordered with wire wheel covers or the "deep dish" chrome wheels, but the base models came with the standard covers you have there. You may even be able to sell those covers as they are not so plentiful anymore...just a thought. By the way. I love those Buicks. I tried to buy a 79 Electra Limited back in the late 80's, but I just could not get the money together. Those are very nice cars.
Thanks for the info Topher! I got a Jim-Dandy of one for sale here that would be perfect for you! The past two owners are friends of mine, I have a ton of records, and I helped do the maintenance for the previous owner and have taken good care of it and done a bit of work on it in the month I have owned it.
Update, the car had a bit of a quirk that when you would shut it off, it would keep running. I figured it was a timing issue and it didn't always do it, so I kind of poo-pooed it. Well, it got a new issue of if you tried to start it and it didn't start, it would keep turning until the battery was drained, which was getting persistently worse. I was getting frustrated with the car and about to sell it for scrap. Dad said there was a short somewhere and 'good luck finding it'. Well, just for kicks and giggles, we decided a new battery may be in order, since this one was an old AC Delco with a sight glass on it. I went to the K-Mart and got a new battery and voila! The car has never run better. One pump of the gas...in upper 30's, lower 40's weather, and it fired up like a champ. I always had just thought she was cold blooded, and the timing was a bit off, and that's why she always started kinda hard. All we can figure is the battery must have been shorting itself somewhere.
Thanks, now if only it was an easy sell. Had a guy offer me an 88 Silverado 2500 with a replaced engine, new trans, and new cv joints plus 500 bucks. But I went to test drive the truck and it was the biggest POS I've ever driven, and I've driven a lot of cars. The gear shift indicator was broken, check engine lite on, no inside door handle, engine took 4 times to start, hardly any accelleration, with the pedal to the floor, and the list goes on! I got around the block (I was supposed to take the truck home to show my dad) and told him I'd pass. He pointed to the wagon and said "That's as good a winter vehicle as any, stick with that"
The old Buick's back up for sale for 2,000. I just put a new starter in her and new plugs. Have the wires and thermostat and cap and rotor, but haven't gotten around to putting them in yet. Found a 77 LTD wagon identical to my Mom and Dad's we had when I was a kid, which means she HAS TO GO, so if you, or anyone you know needs a nice old classic like this, please give her a good home. I don't want to see her become a donk or a lowrider or some other kinda ghetto cruiser.
