Anyone live near this car who could check it out for me? Its a 12 hour drive which is not doable but shipping costs would not be that expensive. I made an offer on the DR's car the day it went for sale on this forum for $1000 under his asking price but he already had offers above his asking price so I was out before it even started. So I am not just some tire kicker, I want a nice wagon so if someone went to check it out for me they would not be wasting their time on someone who is all talk and doesnt actually want a wagon. I have been looking for almost a year now and it has been a big PITA with the sellers I have dealt with. The cars in my area have been incredibly rusty and not worth the money the sellers wanted.

Beautiful. Clearly always garage kept. Those red '70s GM interiors often turned chalky.

I live about an hour away but I have a friend who lives in Buffalo. I'll ask if he could go check it out. What trouble areas do you want him to look for? Thanks

As the seller states, this is clearly a Mid West car from origin. Could not be NY as the rear window defrost has been a mandatory NY state option since the 1970s. If the undercarriage checks out as clean, I'd say this Caprice Estate is a winner.

Just check the under carriage for rust, make sure the car drives well and the transmission seems to function properly and overall condition. The cars I have gone to seen seem to not match the condition of the pics, almost like the pics are old and were taken a few years earlier and there has been way more exterior damage and wheel well/dog leg rust that was not in the pics and I do blow the pics up to check. Also an opinion on what the car is worth. It looks great in the pics but I have learned that the pics mean nothing. I am just waiting for a sellers car to match the pics and description.

Seller says this was a Mid-West car from new. Looks like it has always had the best of care.

Seller can say anything he wants to, u gotta believe its true if its on the internet. Sellers say things all the time, not too many people are willing to buy an automobile sight unseen, im not one of them. The world is full of bad people who would rip their own mothers off. Hey maybe the car is awesome but how can one tell without even starting or driving the car. It looks great but was anybody there when the photos were taken? I would rather be skeptical then get too gungho about a purchase. So many people buy on impulse and regret it. If someone can go andncheck the car for me then great, if not then I move on and wait for something closer. Im not a gambling man.

It's definitely not a NY state car from new. No rear window defroster, which has been a mandatory NY option since the 1970s.

I contacted the seller. I'm going to try and go see it Friday. Not really my wagon of choice but worth a look. Could have a crazy reserve.

What is a car like this worth? I think we have seen the really nice ones here in the 10-12 range?

These GM late '70s box wagons can be difficult to price. Good cars but not nearly as collectible as the clamshells that preceded them. The 350 makes this Caprice attractive, but it is not a loaded car as far as options. I doubt it will go much higher in the eBay auction, especially with miles way over 100k.
