1976 Cadillac Coupe DeVille for sale on BaT Auctions - ending September 27 (Lot #56,067) | Bring a Trailer
My father purchased the sedan version of this, the Sedan De Ville, new in 1976. That car stayed in the family until well into the '80s. Here's a photo from May 1982. That's my sister and me standing on either side of the car looking considerably younger than (i. e., nothing like) we do now. I have no fear that I will be recognized on the street based on this photo. The occasion was my sister's graduation from college followed by loading up two cars with her stuff and bringing her home. The car in the rear, the '81 Toronado, was also ours. That's my parents sitting in the front seat of the Caddy (both still alive today at age 91), and you can see that the car's back seat is loaded to the gills with stuff. The cavernous trunk was filled the same way, and my sister's bike is on a rack attached to the rear of the car.
It’s a ‘74. Last year of the round headlights. Was curious Jaunty did your folks ever have that car repainted? The body side molding looks wider than stock. Just curious, and agree with Jeremiah, what a neat photo and story line.
To my knowledge, he never had it repainted. Here's a Sedan DeVille from one of the '76 Cadillac Brochures. Hard to say if it's narrower. If anything, maybe the molding is narrower on the Coupe DeVille.
