    Another tip:

The '77 Ford LTDII in 1977 was just a Gran Torino with a different name and different front sheet metal. You could also get the Mercury version, which carried the 'Cougar' nameplate for '77.....

We all learned a few things today. Anyway I did. I actually thought Fort McMurray AB was an Air Force base in California. :rofl2:
Keep us bookmarked because you will come back here often. Most of us are reasonably sane and love all makes and models of vehicles.
We will help you change your husbands mind!

If you want the mid-sized wagon, you could not have chosen better. If you don't mind BIG, the Country Squire and Colony Park are beautiful, too. Keep looking in the ads. One of our members from Saskatchewan traveled to Alberta to get a 77 LTD II Squire wagon that was almost perfect! Surprisingly there are quite a number of great wagons still out there. You should not need to go to Las Vegas to find one. Also you will likely pay more for the car at an auction that buying privately. Good luck with the hunt.

Yeah, look at all the cool old iron Fat Tedy keeps coming up with out on the island, if you don't mind all the ferry rides he might have something in his neighborhood that's just right for you. I'd stick to the western half of Canada for your search, plus Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Washington, and the Dakotas. Lots of snow, but not lots of salt. Here's one that might be right up your alley if you're OK with a 1972 model:

    http://greatfalls.craigslist.org/cto/3705950917.html

A $550 sedan that's been sitting for 19 years, might be a great parts car for anything forward of the rear wheels...

    http://spokane.craigslist.org/cto/3776471621.html

Buy the '72 wagon, buy the '75 sedan, swap frame rails and front clip and steering wheel, find a 74-76 rear bumper and shocks, and there you go, a '75 wagon!!! And you'll be able to scrap the rest of the sedan (save lots of parts, you'll need 'em), and then have a good '72 front clip to sell, frame rails and all, which is a popular conversion for '73 fastback and formal roof owners.

Great links! Glad somebody somewhere now knows there is actual life up here! Lol

Learning so much already and getting more excited as I go. Thanks to all the comments I now have no issues with expanding my search to find that dream car of mine! As for anything with the word *cougar* in it.....for us ladies of a certain age I would be hesitant just for endless amounts of jokes that would follow from the kids! Lol

As for sanity, I've been told I have lost mine for thinking such a big ugly car (not my words!) is a super mean beast machine.

What's the info on the 4 door wagons and I heard of 5 door wagons? As I said I am not knowledgable. I could prob google all this but I find I wind up in a whole lot of link clicking and shady websites.

I did look online for you, nikshepor but I knew I would not find a Torino wagon on the island. I have not seen one 4-sale here period in you wanted body style in .....???? years.

Did find this though, to bad the pics suck.....

I have 2, 99.9% rust free wagons for sale myself, but they are not even close to what you are looking for.

Question..... what would you think about a Montego wagon close to the pic I am posting below? It keeps popping up for sale out here, then disappears, then keeps popping back up.

The one I am talking about is painted the colour of the plane jane but has the wood like the white one..... I'll keep a eye out for it, it keeps popping up.

We've commented on that one before, in our 'E-bay Auctions, Craig's List' section. While it has some good points (huge 460 engine - the largest you could get in these wagons; and the extra-cost luxury interior), we dinged it for having cheap aftermarket wheels and messed-up woodgrain.

Very, very true. Unless gas $ is no concern the 460/351M, 400 fords will be a gas guzzeling pig. But if MPG is not a concern I'd stick with a 460. There has been tons of talk about unbelievable gas millage but after hunting the net regarding these gas pigs I have mentioned, best I've found was 15-16MPG Canukistan hyw and that's the real world.....they are all gas pigs with one difference. The 460 will use a bit more gas but the end result of power will justify the bigger well proven compared to a 400. I've owned both engines and well lets put it this way......... I have a 400 in my 72 that needs work, it's getting a 460 for the same reason my 87 Buick witch has a 307 and runs great rite now but if it needs repair ever....... why dump $ into something that will give little if no return when it comes to your pocket book.

Yeah - I had a 460 in my F-350 Crew Cab, and it pulled the truck AND 5th wheel trailer around pretty easily. I can only imagine how it would perform in the Torino.....

I'd want a 289-351 in my Ford wagon.
And I think *cougar*s are fine animals. :rofl2:
