One issue, though, and could be big:

    "BILL OF SALE ONLY"

Why doesn't he have the title? And if he doesn't have one, why doesn't he get one before trying to sell the car?

A bill of sale shows only that you gave him money. It doesn't establish that he had the legal right to sell the car, and it therefore doesn't establish that you're the legal owner. While it seems unlikely that this car could be stolen, who knows what its history is. Maybe some time in the distant past there was lien on it, and the lien was never removed when whoever was making payments at the time stopped making payments, skipped town with the car, or who knows what.

Getting a car titled in a situation like this can be difficult, depending on the state you live in and the associated laws. This is something I would look into in the state I plan to title and register the car before buying it.

    Ha!:yup:

    I agree totally 72Kingswood!

And yes, most people are totally clueless and see no value to an old station wagon, even a GM clamshell like this one! :slap: :naughty:

Hey could this '74 Buick Estate Wagon possibly look this nice?!?! (Probably not - LOL!)

JUST SPECULATLING! (Stock photo - no actual wagon for sale!)

Well, we have a ad with no pics period! ............. so what is the point? This isn't the 1980's Saturday morning local news paper, it's online even if you are local and intersted!

We all like to see what is for sale and comment, but..... I found a local island listing for a 455 clamshell as parts today, no pics, not even one so.... I never posted it (what is the point?). Search Used Victoria is all I will say about the clam I found with no pics attached......

How can you comment on anything weather you are looking for it, or just for parts, and or just general interest if seller can't even provide one single pic? Is it a basket case, or a screaming deal....... we will never know:juggle:

EDIT, and to ad with what jaunty said..... no title/papers, even with no pics it screams not worth $2500.

The ad says text anytime but I didn't see a number. I would still like to see what this wagon looks like.

Here it is now on eBay with photos, and we can see it is actually a 1975 model. Pretty well equipped with power windows, locks, tailgate and even cornering lights, but no 3rd seat. If the rust is as described, this could be a decent buy for $2500. :yup: (I still like these better with the wood grain, but that's just me.)

As I understand it, some states don't issue titles, and some don't issue titles for cars over a certain age. At least that's according to various ads I've read. I live in Maryland, where they use titles, but I believe they'll issue a title on the strength of a bill of sale and registration.

I believe it's correct that the title issue is one that is going to vary from state to state regarding the law. Seller says bill of sale is sufficient for an antique in Kansas (but seller also thinks this is a 1974 ), so it's good advice for potential buyers to reseach the title requirements in their state before thinking about bidding. Suddenly gone from both craigslist and eBay. eBay says: This listing was ended by the seller because there was an error in the listing. If it was the model year, seller was informed of that some days ago. Stay tuned as to whether this Buick reappears.

A bill of sale is useless in Oklahoma. Plus, the seller is not exactly telling the truth about the car title requirements in Kansas. A car can be titled off a bill of sale in Kansas ONLY if the car is a 1950 or older!!! Were it that easy for this wagon, there would be absolutely ZERO excuse for him to not have a title in-hand for this car. The seller is full of $hit, IMO.

Maybe the title/registration issues are why this Buick Estate Wagon has disappeared?! :yup: :bouncy: No telling at this point! :disagree:
