Up for sale is a beautiful 1974 AMC (American Motors) Hornet Sportabout Station Wagon.

-In 1974 auto buff magazine Road & Track tested the then current compact station wagons, including Volvo, Peugeot, Volkswagen, Fiat, and others. They rated the AMC Hornet Sportabout wagon as the best of the lot.

-You won't find a nicer looking or driving Hornet Sportabout in Albuquerque, or New Mexico for that matter! This car is sweet!

    -Absolutely rust-free New Mexico car!

    -85,454 + original miles!

-One re-paint of factory Ivory Green color. "Santa Fe Style" color shows well; some light dings.

-Economical 232 inline straight six engine.

-New rocker arm cover gasket with used aftermarket chromed rocker arm cover, including fresh oil change.

-Recent tune-up with new spark plugs, new points, rotor, condenser, distributor cap, and ignition wires.

    -New motor and transmission mounts.

-Dependable AMC/Chrysler 904 Torqueflite automatic transmission.

-New front suspension strut rod bushings. 2 new 205/70-14 B.F. Goodrich Radial T/As with fresh front-end alignment (9-1-2009). Rear tires are in excellent condition.

-Newish 2-1/4 exhaust system from muffler back, including new Turbo style muffler.

-New heater core with new heater hoses put in this past spring; hasn't been used other then testing it.

-Newish Corbeau Classic II black cloth and vinyl vintage style racing seats. The original split vinyl front bench seat was in extremely poor condition with ripped vinyl and broken springs; it felt like sitting in a hole!

-New Lecarra/Moto-Lita genuine wood and aluminum vintage style steering wheel. I will also include the original style AMC sport wheel that came with the car when I bought it, or will remove the new wood steering wheel, and reduce the price of the car.

-New black carpet kit, including rear load space (not installed yet). I had planned on changing the interior to black.

-New Talbot style bullet exterior rear view mirror.

    -AMC factory cast aluminum wheels.

-Factory chromed roof rack. Perfect for your surf or snow boards!

I also have for additional $$$ an AMC/Chrysler 727 Torqueflite transmission which can easily handle a 360/401 AMC V-8 conversion. Additionally, I have some other V-8 engine stuff, including a set of AMC 360 dog-leg heads with a desirable 1973 casting date, a factory AMC four-barrel intake manifold, factory oil pan, aluminum front engine cover, and some other minor things.

-Clear New Mexico Title in my name; this car is licensed, insured, and driven, so actual miles might be slightly higher than shown above!
