Going up for auction at Mecum Kissimmee next month. Looks gorgeous. I hate to think what it's going to fetch. I'll guess $30,000. https://www.mecum.com/lots/1098233/1973-oldsmobile-custom-cruiser-station-wagon/?aa_id=531674-0
I'm sure the dealer would be happy with both your estimates. They have it priced at $24,995. https://www.carsforsale.com/used-ca...s-tampa-fl-d651168/inventory/details/95373039
I think this dealer has had this car for quite a while. I recall seeing it pop up from time to time on eBay. And yes…if they’ve had it listed for 25k and still have it there must be things about it we cannot see.
What's keeping it up is probably what's keeping it down. For instance, a rotten frame? If it didn't, they'd obviously be showing us a bottoms up photo session
But the dealer site does show several photos of the underside, and it looks just as solid as the topside. I'm wondering if the reason it is so difficult to sell isn't just because the price is too high. I think a comfortable price range for one of these in this condition is maybe $15-20k. The seller is a dealer, and we know what that means as far as asking ing price. I know this is hardly exhaustive, but I searched back through Mecum auctions and found three clamshell Oldsmobiles sold by them over the last decade or so. None sold for as much as the asking price of this one. Not even close. 1975 Custom Cruiser with 16,000 miles on it sold for $19,000 in 2016. 1976 with 80,000 miles on it sold for $11,500 in 2012. 1976 sold for $16,5000 just last year. No mileage listed.
