Not sure about new glass, but you could probably find somebody to ship you a used piece. Make sure you specify what tint it has (none/green/ or whatever.....)

Post up a thread in the 'Parts Wanted' section.

Hey guys I spoke to the insurance company i'm with (they had a show on a few 100 meters down the road from my house this morning - very handy!)
I get one free glass claim per year with my policy so that's great news. no matter what it costs I don't have to pay and premium doesn't go up!

There is a glass place in my town that specialises in older stuff so ill call them first. O'Brien is another one that surprised me. they are the biggest screen company in Australia and were the only ones that could find a screen for my 75 mazda van. took a month but they came through. so that's a second option.

since that car is right hand drive, how is the brake booster and cruise stuff connected all the way from the left side of the car.
AND ..... how does the steering column deal with the heater/ac box inside.
which side of the car is the steering box on?

    PS.... I'm just a simple caveman.

wow that's great news mate. What are the names and contact details for your glass suppliers? They were after a part number so if you had one that'd be great.
    regards tom

i was judging by the pics in the first post of this thread.
our left drive's brake pedal has a short rod pushing from the pedal arm straight into the vac booster.. yours must have some kinda linkage pivoting across the dash.
i also wonder if your steering box is flanged backwards from ours or is there is some rotational linkage that also runs from one side of the car to a left drive steering box.
if we were to move our steering column to the other side of our american cars, we probably couldnt mount it to the firwall because the heater box would be in the way.

    this is very interesting.

look at the left drive car. the cruise control speedo cables run from the left side of the tranny to the speedo box, the from the speedo box they run almost straight rearward through the firewall and into the speedo.
compare that the right drive car.

then as i mentioned before the direct connection from the brake booster to the brake pedal arm.
its all just one of those things we left hand drivers almost never see or think about.
and one more thing is the reversal design of your windshield wiper system and how the arms, especially right side arm of yours is a functionally engineered opposite version of a right hand drive arm.

Glass has arrived and now lives ontop of bedroom cupboard. I opened the big package before I accepted it from importer to see if smashed in transit. all good! initially my heart jumped into my mouth. the ceran wrap on it looked like spiderweb cracks! LOL. anyway it cant go in yet coz the wagon is in the shop. wondered why it was using 60L after only 110 miles and noticed a slight leak from fuel tank. so its getting welded up and some control arm bushes and ball joints done etc.
so far this side glass has cost the insurance guys AUD$716 and it needs to be installed. that will cost them another $100 or so.

Glad to hear that the glass made it halfway around the world without damage. Theres a nice 73 Custom Cruiser wagon I see here in Virginia every now and then. Like yours, it does not have the wood paneling. Its black and has the Buick style 5 spoke chrome wheels. I never have my camera with me when I see it.
