Its a beauty for sure! I have always loved these cars and this one was "Fords finest" mid-size back then, top level Mercury Montego (which was basically a super luxurious Gran Torino). One thing I notice on this one that bugs me about many mid-late 70s Fords is the "dangling" vacuum hoses under the dash. Many Fords of the era seemed to have this issue where these lines would start to sag down. I dont know if its where Ford didn't do a good job of keeping these intact or if people working under the dash tend to pull them down. I am sure they didn't come from the factory that way. Someone needs to put these back in their place, as I think it is rather unattractive on what appears to be an otherwise near mint car.

This one will find a good home, I am sure. It is simply stunning, and for what it is, the price seems very good indeed. I know that being a 4 door the value is lower than the 2 door, but for the money, you would be hard pressed to beat it. Best of all, it does have a/c and power windows, too. The only thing I HATE about these, like the 72/73 Torino, is the brake lamps being in the bumper. You can certainly see the family resemblance to the Lincoln Continental mark III in the lines, too.

Too bad that it's on the other side of the country from me in Washington state. This is a great looking Merc at a reasonable price.

I like the 4drs better imo. All I would change on this one is what I have already mentioned... those vacuum hoses need to be put back in place. I don't know why the owner hasn't done that already.

This gorgeous Montego has moved from Washington state to Los Angeles and is now priced at $7500. Not as great a deal as it was at $5000, but still pretty much irreplaceable at most any price, as pristine and loaded as it is! :thumbs2:

The new photos reveal it also has 6-way power seat!

You know, I've realized I really like 4-door cars. I had a 79 cougar, and as nice as it was, you just couldn't have more than 1 other person in there comfortably. I knew they're not as popular with most car people, but I like them.

Now, my dream car is a Corvette stingray, and I'd happily take that coupe. :)

That steering wheel horn button is probably the most delicate item on the whole car. It's an easy way to judge the condition on these cars as they are typically the first item to show wear. That button as well as the whole car is just outstanding.

I always wanted a 'sporty' 4-door. If I were head of the Mercury div in 1973, there would have been a Mercury Cyclone GT 4-door in addition to the Mercury Montego MX Brougham 4-door.......

There were a few makes that worked a little harder at building performance-oriented 4-doors - Pontiac comes to mind with thr mid 70's Grand Am.
