Six-cylinder engine and three-on-the-tree manual transmission. Could this '72 Torino wagon be any more basic? http://knoxville.craigslist.org/cto/3618870986.html
This car has but one option I can see, and that is the air conditioning. Other than that, this looks to be the base model, with zero options. I'm betting that it left the factory with black steel wheels, black wall tires, and dog dish hub caps, too. It is very, very rare to see one of these in any shape, never mind looking as nice as this one. It is even rarer to find one this basic, period! Not many of the strippers have survived.
You could get a Six with three on the tree as late as the mid-'80s on some cars and trucks. I had a 1982 Dodge D100 with a 225 and three on the column, heater, and nothing else! This looks like a '71 and not a '72.
It's a 72, this is a 71 bace model....notice the lack of the chubby hips I really dig this red on black plain jane, it's bland drive train is probobly what saved it.
I just noticed the grill has a hole in it, gona be real hard to find that bace model one compared to the other.
The good news about the grill is that the 2 door and 4 door base models all had the same grill, so it may not be too difficult to find.
and sadly, it's gona be a b**** to find one. 2 door, 4 door , wagon,,, Awsome red one 4-sale but it's gona be hard finding that grill.......I'll stll take the Lil plane jane, broken grill or not.
That's when you buy a big ole tube grille from a truck and cut it down to fit. I tried to GIMP that but failed miserably. Or you could get creative and create a custom grille with headlight doors like a 70-71 Torino. Or put a T-Bird front clip on it (plenty of lipstick red 77-79 Thunderbirds out there to pick from). I'd actually change it to the 74-76 Gran Torino front clip anyway. I like those.
