LOL! Cut me some "slack" guys! It's 103 here right now at 8pm! 51 days of triple-digit heat this Summer so far! Yeah, nothing but excuses! I get up before the pesky sun to get anything done on my Buick. Tomorrow morning, I will paint my door and tailgate jambs before it gets too hot. I want to be able to assemble the majority of the wagon before I paint the body. This is not usually the way a restoration paint job is done, but since this vehicle is being done entirely outside, the paint needs to be the very last detail completed. With the jambs done, I can install weatherstripping, some of the interior parts, and button everything up. I will take my camera with me tomorrow, and document some of the fun! David
I don't see how ya'll get anything done in the heat Texas has had this summer. Its been bad enough here in GA
Yep, David, I can relate to the heat. We've been getting those Southern Heat bubbles, right up the Red River Valley. I'm trying to wire and plumb my top floor as well as new subfloor, new rafters in some places and new stairways. Work in the AM, plan the next part in the PM, work some more in the late evening, and REPEAT! I probably sweat off a half-gallon of water! Cooler now, for 2 or 3 days. Whew!
It is the other way around with the weather here in the northern part of Europe... need to paint the house, work on the cars etcetc.... in the past 6 weeks (at least) there weren't 2 days in a row without rain. Haven't been to car shows either :Blasting_anim: ...so a photo of painted door and tailgate jambs under a clear blue, sunny sky would make me double happy.
Well, finally I have a few pics to show! I did some painting yesterday, and it turned out pretty good. Sorry about the pic quality, I was using a different camera than I am used to, and it's auto flash was unreliable. Some of these pics are darker than I wish. Oh well, at least they're pic! Also, I edited the size of these pics, cropping them, but it didn't take, for some reason. Maybe I will go back and try to fix them when I have some time. Sorry if they are a little big. I am crazy about the color! When I was a kid, one of my teachers had a new '74 Firebird Formula in this exact blue...I was out of my mind for it! I remember buying a Firebird model and some Testors paint in as close to this color as I could find at the hobby store. When I chose this particular GM Royal Blue, I didn't even realize that this is that same color until it sprayed out on the car. I love it, and it makes me happy! A sentimental memory thing. It's not easy to get all of the nooks and crannies, when paint these areas. If I was doing this car in a shop, I would probably have the doors off, and paint eveything prior to reassembly, but this car is out in the open, so I am doing it in a slightly different order. I will paint the tailgate jambs and fenders hopefully next week, and start to put this thing more together. David : )
Your hard work and talent is paying off, big time, Wix. That car is going to be gorgeous. I can picture it with the interior you have in mind and it will be beyond gorgeous. I do like THAT blue. Especially if it's metallic and will go light & dark. Even if not...that's a nice color.
I really like your color choice, it looks like the same color that I had my Blazer paint(Chevy Blue) that was the name. I had decals made that went over the hood, roof and down the tailgate. The design was interlocking chevy bowtie simples, 5 deep X2 so they looked like tire treads going over the hood, roof, etc.
