Wow Rob, your wagon is so great looking!

Thanks for letting know what you think.

I will probably place the letters maybe an inch higher on the tailgate. (if I put them on at all)

Not sure what paint is worn off of my lock bezel, but I will paint it up and see what looks best. It will fit flush, but I dont want to drill the body yet.

As for the Limited script, I'm still not sure about that, but maybe.

Still kickin' all this around!

    David :)

Here's what I thought (50/50 that is... somebody knows for sure???) is the difference between 71 and 72 trunk lock bezels:

Left the 71 and right the 72 (the hood panel emblem have the same difference)

I prefer the more classy (IMHO) 71

To my old eyes it seems that the only difference is where the paint is on them??

I am a good example of a bad example I have bags full of rocket emblems I have hood ornaments on cars that did not get them (conv & wagon) but I like them to aim down the road :D

I have also added emblems (rockets of course) where they do not belong (litter basket, sat radio wire wheel covers dealer tags)

I would like to put one of those lock bezels on the back of the wagon but I think I will look for an open key style, flipping that cover like the other 2 cars is just an accident waiting to happen as far as losing the cover goes but not $99

I want to put by Oldsmobile emblems on the Toronado, it does not say Oldsmobile on the outside anywhere!!!

hmmm may be a good day for the glue gun in the driveway

That brings up a problem I have, Jeffrey. I have some emblems that need to go on my car but I don't know what to use as an adhesive. I'm told that the 3M molding tape is real good and I am going to get some but if you have experience with something better please let me know. I want something strong enough to hold small metal cross flags emblem on the exterior of the car through weather changes, car washes etc.

I used a black weatherstrip adhesive in a tube for the header emblem so far so good (we'll see if I ever need to change it as it is not in the prettiest condition (but I kind of like that - afterall she's an old gal) (oh yeah forgot about that 455 emblem hahaha)

I have also used hot glue for the dealer tags on 2 cars which you can see was pretty sloppy

I think I will go with the 3M molding tape. Trouble with that is that you better get it on straight the first time. It is unforgiving if you get the emblem on crooked. Then you have to use the 3M adhesive remover to work it back off.

I'm loving the tailgate, Wix, and I'm also loving your attention to detail on this beauty. Think I prefer the '71 emblem as well. Beauteous!!

    Thanks guys,

Your imput helps me figure out what to do on this project. :tiphat:

Sometimes it is hard to see what is good and tasteful, and what is too much. I wasn't sure if I should put all the emblems on the back, but now I know.

    I'm gonna do it!

It is a drab, drizzly day here...perfect weather to drill some holes in a tailgate! :2_thumbs_up_-_anima

    David :)

1st nice day here in a long time and I got the conv out of storage only to find the top will not move. nothing really addressing it in the books either, just that it is on the same breaker as everything that this car does not have: tailgate and rear window, pw, p seats.

It has just been sitting, don't know where to start except take it in. Can not even see the motor to see if I knocked the power loose somehow in the trunk.

I got one short little try on it jiggling the switch then nothing

Could be the switch maybe. I'd fool around with it some more. Maybe it just has to wake up from its hibernation.

I'd guess at a corroded ground. Use a battery cable on the top's frame, close to the main pivot and try the switch again. Then clean up the motor contacts and mounting brackets and any grounds attached to the motor.

Usually, the power contacts in the connectors have lithium grease to keep them from corroding. I'd check the switch too. Those GM switches are notorious for building up carbon on the contacts. Longterm humidity doesn't help.

Wix, my vote is to go for the Buick emblems and the Limited script as well. Great fun!!
