These 1970 Buick Estate Wagons are quite unique. This GM body series and platform (full-sized) ran from 1965 through the 1970 model year. Because Olds and Buick had their extended-midsize 'skyroof' models (Vista Cruiser and Sport Wagon, respectively) beginning in the '64 model year, neither make was given a station wagon model on the full-sized platform during those years........until Buick brought back the Estate Wagon for the last year of this platform (ALL except Cadillac would get the new 'clam shell' wagons for 1971).

I think a little clarification is in order. Olds produced the raised-roof Vista Cruiser from 1964 through 1972, a total of 9 model years, and its production overlapped the era of the clamshell wagons by two years (1971 and 1972). So, for two model years, both full-size and A-body-based, raised-roof wagons were available from Oldsmobile. From 1964 through 1970, Olds did not offer a full-size wagon.

As far as Buick goes, their raised-roof wagon, the Skyroof Sportwagon, was not offered until the 1965 model year, one year later than Olds, and it was offered only through 1969, a total of just five model years. Buick did not offer a full-size wagon during these five model years, but Buick did offer a full-size wagon in 1964, which Olds did not. Beginning in 1970, Buick once again offered a full-size wagon, and there were no raised-roof Sportwagons. So, in the case of Buick, and unlike Oldsmobile, production of the raised-roof wagon and the full-size wagon did not overlap at all.

To make a little table out of all this:

    Buick:

Skyroof Sportwagon: 1965 through 1969 (five model years)
full-size wagon: 1964 and earlier, 1970 and later

    Oldsmobile:

raised-roof Vista Cruiser: 1964 through 1972 (nine model years)
full-size wagon: 1963 and earlier, 1971 and later

Interesting. I looked it up. It was introduced mid-model year, in February 1964. It does not appear in the 1964 Buick full-line brochure.

The price is premium but try to find another one in that condition.

keeping the interior, paint and carpet clean and straight is 1 thing but to keep the woodgrain in top shape is totally amazing.
if I like the car(don't like clam shells - hate me you want) and had the $19.5 I'd be serious - there can not be many more in this condition in the world
