There's that 10 passenger reference again, and thanks to Krash, we now know that the passenger rating switched in 1967. As for the engine, I recall these having either 320 or 360 horsepower depending on the carb so I'm certain this thing really moves. By '72 however it was a mere shell of itself at 200 horse. And based on experience, even at 200 horse, you can still do a really mean power brake!

Beautiful wagon, and 24k original miles!!!!
The woodgrain looks too good to be original, but maybe it is........
Unfortunately, too rich for my blood.

It has the rare vacuum power door lock option with the switch on the middle of the dash. See it? :p

Beautiful car, but this is looking like deja-vu all over again with regard to that '73 Custom Cruiser on ebay the guy was trying to get $18,000 for.

This is a very nice car, but it's not a $13,000 car. This is a five day auction, there are just less than two days left (as of this writing), and he doesn't have a single bid.

    Good luck to him.

There is something about the '69 - '72 Mercury full-size wagons that just don't bring in the big bucks. Maybe it's the lack of uniqueness due to its Ford profile and rear. I happen to like the hidden headlights on these Merc's and find them very attractive. I can't however see it bringing $13K ish either, despite how lovely is it.

Well, one of the things that works against it is the simple fact that it's a station wagon, '69 to '72 Merc or otherwise. I don't know of any wagon that brings in the big bucks except possibly mid-50s Chevy Nomads. They're fun cars as we all know, but the world of station wagon collectors is very small in comparison to other types of cars.

Yes, that is the headlight switch to the left of the steering column. It has quite a few more options than the seller lists, including the vacuum power door locks, as JWDTenn mentioned. I see that it has power windows, intermittent wipers, the AM/stereo 8-track, and I think the dual front seats with individual arm rests were also an option on all but the Brougham, but I'd have to look at the brochure to be sure.

You will have to fight me for it, Tedy...

One of the things I love most about cars is that there is always more to learn. Before today I had never heard of vacuum door locks with the switch in the dash. It's those small often ignored details that intrigues me the most some times. I wonder what other unique options this car has/could have had? :D

I've been a full size mercury guy all my life, and I'm here to tell you you gotta buy mercy because you love them. I have a 1967 s-55 one of only 570 built, and the convertible, one of only 145 built, and when you see these cars for sale, you don't see anywhere near what you would think. A gorgeous convertible might see 15 to 20 grand, it's less than it would cost to make it that nice. Not a whole lot of mercy bring any real money, except the muscle cars or the real oldies. Look at eBay, always the same wagons over and over.

I know that it might seem odd to some but my love of Mercurys goes so far as to leave out Ford... By that I mean take two wagons, both are 1980 panthers with one a Merc and the other Ford. It would be very hard to get me to take the Ford over the Mercury. I know that it doesn't make sense but it does to me. I blame my first car... A 1984 Mercury Marquis, Fox body, 6 cylinder, automatic trans, black:cry: Station Wagon ( RIP).

On the '69 Marquis Brougham my parents had, it had a vacuum-operated automatic parking brake release; not sure if that was on the wagons or not. Someone told me that was on the Marquis and Lincolns, but not available on the big Fords.
