The report states that the dealer who ordered the car was from Madisonville, Kentucky..........another wet state. More mystery as to why the car is in such great shape.

I forgot to mention, our Cougar is one of six that is that paint scheme AND trim package. The interior nearly looks like an
XR-7, the only difference being the position of the clock and a tach. The faux wood look is very attractive.

Thinking of doing a Marti report on the Squire, if he does wagons.

Wet's not that bad. Kentucky is far enough south, to avoid salting. The original owner probably booked out to California, just before the temperature got below freezing. He might have gotten busted for a misdemeanor like drug posession or was escaping child support

They used to salt in Tennessee and we are farther south than Kentucky. Now it's just the brine solution instead of rock salt but still in use before an expected snow fall.

Sometimes I have absolutely NO idea how your thought process leads you to things.

Wet weather isn't an issue for the most part as long as the car is kept clean. My wagon came from Seattle and it is as rust free as a desert car.

I was behind one of those brine solution trucks on 75 in Ohio several years ago. Never seen them in Michigan. Might as well just driven my car straight into the ocean.

Going on a different tangent, here's a 1974 film about how those cougars were trained for those Mercury commercials. I'm still wondering how they got those cougars to yell on cue without pissing off the cats:

So far, the 1977 Country Squire is generating more buzz than the Cougar! Seems to get a lot of "thumbs up" , especially from people in trucks!

It's amazing how many of these 1977 Country Squires were made, yet so few left!

You just don't see that many vintage wagons on the road anymore!

Over here, they'll dump salt, even if it's only snowflakes melting on above-freezing pavement, probably thinking that they'll lose their job, if they're caught doing nothing or are just plain dumb. Now and then, newspaper commentary gets posted. Mostly because of what salt does to the environment than how it damages older vehicles
