1966 Ford Falcon Country Squire Station Wagon for sale by owner - Los Angeles, CA - craigslist Gorgeous wagon, seller says 98% restored. Interior looks original, beautiful wood and color, inside and out. I would love this wagon!
Curious. All of the V8 Falcons of this era that I've seen had an engine callout. Not in evidence here, although the VIN confirms an original 260. I don't think the C3 would have been my choice for a transmission upgrade. I have a 4 cyl '77 Pinto Squire with a C3. I believe the V6 Pintos came with the C4 transmission. My thought is that if the C3 wasn't suitable for the V6, it wouldn't be a very good choice for a V8. I actually bought a '64 Falcon Squire in the late '80s. I paid $650. Granted, it was a six cylinder and in nowhere near as good condition as this one, but I still find it mind-blowing to see these for $30K. I've seen several in this range, though. This one might be a little high, since the resto's not complete. Does California mandate the shoulder belts? I don't think even the lap belts were required until '65, although they were certainly available in '64.
It'll work, if the next owner drives it like an elderly person would. Originally, the only available automatic for those were the 2-speeds. Later on, 289s were assigned C4s. There's something different about both bellhousings. If I recall correctly, you would need a 5-bolt bellhousing, if you wanted to hook up a 260 with a C4?
