1966 Chevy Bel-Air wagon - (My dad took me on a surprise trip after I got home from work - earlier today, he just happed to pass by where this car was for sale and he could not wait to take me back and show it to me... he wouldn't tell me what it was. He thought maybe I could sell mine and buy this one - at the time however, he didn't know that this one was price at $9000... :) I would be a little short I do believe. lol. It is a nice car however. I would prefer an Impala or Caprice wagon from that year however). If I had $9K to spend on a wagon, I would find another nice 66-74 Caprice wagon or a nice 71-78 Country Squire.

The mainstream (main stream meaning not including special cars like Corvette Camaro etc.) 66 Chevy full size sedan and variants are the best looking ones from the 60's, bit like 57 was a decade before, because it has the most refined street presence imho. The front has the right amount of chrome and rake (for the time) and the taillights are simple and intricate but also well integrated into the style, a good case of when function compliments design. And of course, the hip line is perfect!

I know who bought this car, http://www.volocars.com/1966-chevro...7-convertible-c-2547.htm#sthash.QaHzTQMI.dpbs it is in Adelaide now. This 66 convertible is every bit as gorges as the pics suggest. I saw this for the first time in Febuary at an "All American Cruise" and it was also one of the motivating factors for joining this forum to find some Americana for myself.

Hopefully when I finally get my 73 Clamshell and I join this cruise it will be the only one in there!

Yeah, it looked very good in person - a straight car and a very, very solid car. I didn't see any rust or signs of previous rust except for a TEEENY TINY bit on the lower left quarter. Interior was all original, it was nice, but the padded dash was cracked - which could be expected on a car this old.

    hey, hey, hey

Good looking wagon. a bit on the plain side. that 327, if unmolested, is a cool artifact by itself. the two speed tranny? would probably have to keep it, if it's numbers matching. maybe they think it's worth so much. because of this drivetrain.;)
