350-Powered 1966 Checker Marathon A12 Wagon for sale on BaT Auctions - ending February 6 (Lot #135,583) | Bring a Trailer
I remember when I was about 14 years old, a friend of my father’s took me to a license plate trading event and show out on Long Island. He drove a gray checker station wagon. He brought one other guy with him and the two of them were in the front seat, and I was in the backseat. The car had some kind of exhaust leak because the interior was filled with exhaust fumes, and I could not understand how the two men in the front seat didn’t seem to be affected at all by it. I held on for dear life and couldn’t wait to get out of that car. I’m surprised I didn’t get carbon monoxide poisoning
I had a good friend in college that was from Michigan. His mom and dad both drove Checkers, and he got mom’s 4 door when she upgraded years. We jokingly called him Brezhnev cause it was a black Checker and looked like an official Soviet car. Lol
Not everybody knew that these Brezhnevmobiles were available to the general public. As robust as these were, their value for money was probably also underestimated
