1965 Chrysler New Yorker Town & Country Wagon for sale on BaT Auctions - ending July 19 (Lot #79,033) | Bring a Trailer
If you're hauling a lot of passengers frequently in this Town and Country the optional rear A/C unit comes in handy. Otherwise, it's in the way.........
I thought the rear view mirror was dash mounted with rear air. I had a 66 T & C with rear air that was.
Yes, it’s time to part with the Town & Country. I’ve been downsizing my collection and this is one of the nicer cars. I am a fan of Elwood Engel’s design work. He honed his craft at GM under Harley Earl before moving to Ford. Engel is credited for the design of the ‘61 Continental (another in the collection). After Virgil Exner went too extreme in the early 60’s at Chrysler and was fired as the head of design, he was replaced by Engel. The first new Chryslers to hit the market under Engel’s leadership were the 1965 C-bodies. The big Chryslers have a lot of the Continental design influence. 1965 was the final year that the New Yorker name would appear on the Town & Country. This is a true luxury wagon. It’s base price of $4935 was almost as expensive as a Cadillac. The prior two owners of this Chrysler took amazing care of it. It really is a remarkable wagon built to a very high standard.
Good luck with the sale! Looks like a nice example. I always liked the dash and the concave tail lights on these.
It’s heading West. The buyer is a Chrysler enthusiast and previously owned a ‘61 Town & County hardtop wagon.
