I tried. But she keeps pushing me to wire the money and she wont hold the car for me unless I do. She says someones coming to see it this week. She was kind of upset that I didn't trust her, but at the same time she wouldn't trust that I wouldn't buy it. The situation kept changing too much. I told her if he doesn't buy it, then let me know. But it just felt too off. I will still go out there with a trailer if I get the chance and the guys to go with me but I will not wire the money.

Does it still seem legit enough that I should go in person though? Or just walk away completely? Someone may be willing to go with me tonight. I thought no one was able to drive with me, but someone just called and said they would think about it and get back with me in a little bit.

No one can know for sure, but its likely just two people (buyer and seller) who are both cautious and wary of scammers. So in the end, no one can trust the other without being there in person with car and cash on site. Still, if she knew that you would be coming from a long distance, she should have been willing to hold the car until you could get there. Otherwise there is no incentive to go.
I once went to look at a car in Montreal, Canada with cash in hand and trailer in tow. It was a 12 hour drive each way. Seller said he had another interested party but I was first. I wouldn't make the trip without his assurance that he would hold the car till I got there. I didn't buy the car (I knew it needed work, but it looked better in pictures), but since he did have another buyer waiting, it wasn't a big issue for him. He sold it within hours after I left and we even became friends for a while and stayed in touch.

Yeah. I like the car. It is great but she was way too annoyed at me for not knowing about the plates and not knowing about how everyone wires her money for other cars. She did all the things craigslist warns against for scams. I don't think she was scamming me but that is too expensive of a trip to take with her treating me like that. If she is that annoyed with me, then I can get there and she may raise the price or even refuse to sell to me.

The very first photo in the collection was the one that prompted my comment about looking for signs of hidden rust under all that lower body trim.
The rust that shows is actually very high on the body side. It makes me wonder whats hidden below the wide lower body trim there.

That may be why she wanted to sell it before I could inspect it. Oh well. If nothing else works out first I may come back to this and consider it. Personally, I think she may have shot herself in the foot. She was worried about losing two deals. But if the guy doesn't buy it and I don't feel like going out there after having more time to think....

Still, you gotta give her credit for specifically taking this photo And for posting it as the very first photo in the collection. Without this one photo, anyone going to look at the car would expect to see a Totally rust free car.

Personally, I think that anyone that would wire money in advance without ever seeing the car or, at the very least, having a car guy look and report back, is brain dead. I DO think she is scamming you. She has taken away your ability to make an informed decision.

But if you see her add she says "barely noticeable."

That was in the third set of pictures and I specifically asked for a picture of the small spot of rust. She told me you wouldn't notice it from a couple of feet away. Then said it was 7"x14".

That is why it is hard for me to deal with her. I don't think she's trying to be dishonest.... but I get a weird vibe.

BTW... Thanks for your guys support. It's great to have people help me out. Especially with things to look for and all that.
