Looks very nice....but the $55,000 is a little rich for my blood. http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/dealer/dodge/polara/1520005.html
It's rare as hell and clean, but that does not change the fact that it looks like it was designed on a dare.... I wonder if Chris Bangle's Dad worked for Chrysler back then.....?
It's been for sale through various forums and venues now for about four years, IIRC. Absolutely stunning car, but in today's market, he'd be lucky to hit $30K, I believe.
To the right collector, this will be a great buy. It does seem hard to believe, though, that only 5 survive out of a production run of 1,700 or so examples. Granted, it is 53 years old but being the top of the line wagon, these did tend to get taken care of better than the base models. Still, not common new, and very rare now, adds up to the high price. I would bet it will sell for close to that price.
We have pix of this car in our Gallery and I have posted it many times here as a favorite of mine. I had no idea that it was for sale now. Different strokes for different folks, Mike (81X11)....I absolutely LOVE this car! It is a gorgeous example of the era and of the talents of Virgil Exner. The price is high but if I had the money I used to have back in the day I would negotiate hard to buy this car. It is a stunning example of Exner. The next year's Polara is another beauty from Exner.....
Blame demo derbies. They've wrecked more than their share of nice wagons. THAT is why five are likely all that exist.
Very nice! I thought tractors pulls, Big foot truck crushing and figure 8 demo derby knuckle dragging events were a thing of the past? Kind of like CB radios.
