Silly me ! My wife said you take the watermellon home and eat it instead of letting it roll around in the back of the wagon! Hope the wagon is finished by next watermellon season.
Hey, guys... the engine is here. Like unwrapping a Christmas present... Baseball, hot dogs, apple pie and Chevrolet. Larry showing us the headers he selected. Pretty. Date -- and even time? -- of manufacture. Pretty, pretty, shiny, shiny. Did we do okay?
it will move you down the road just fine , depending on the rear and tranny final choices you could hit 3 digit speeds on the highway or cruise all day with the a/c on and avg around 18 mpg, as i said i had the same engine with a 700r4 and a 3;31 rear gear.
From what I've read (and I didn't read much, admittedly), short-tube headers provide better performance/more torque at low RPM; going up hills, towing stuff.... do you think headers aren't even necessary, or do you think long-tube would have been better?
Trying to learn a thing or two from you guys... why are headers a problem for these cars? Problems with fit, or what?
very limited availibility for the sbc like you bought in a 59 frame. i just went thru this a few months ago when i installed my engine and had to replace the existing manifold which cracked. the header manufacturer's think every 59 should have a new ls style motor installed and thats what the majority are making . what you bought should work , the long tube headers make more power but are harder to install
Even with my 55 Chevy and a totally different type frame I had to swap my long tube headers for shortys. The long tubes kept hitting bottom on little bumps or humps. At a gas station where those filler caps are I once got hung up.
Small Block Chevy-------------- That is what you have in the box at the body shop. Engines above 400 cubic inches are called BBC. Big Block Chevys. At least you are asking and learning.
