We have had these little od balls posted before, ....Talk about polished to a inch of it's life, the mirror reflection in the paints pictures is almost equal if not better than the real big $ cars for sale. .............
I remember seeing one or two of these around in years past. Don't remember the wood trim or 'Squire' nameplate on them, though. (Maybe I was actually looking at a Hillman?). Lot of money for such a little wagon...... Anyway, if I was suddenly awarded ownership of this shiny little nugget, I would donate it to a circus......... No really, first thing I would do would yank that little teeny boat anchor of a motor (36hp? Really?), and substitute something with at least a little more oomph.... - Warmed-over Ford 2.8 V6? - 2.3 from a Pinto/Mustang? - Mazda rotary?
Hardly looks like something from 1957 Here're 1957 Ford wagons produced in Germany. Usually, they're identicle-looking to those made in Britain, except that the steering wheel is on the proper side: The Taunus 17M: The Taunus 15M: The 12M (age unknown): 1955 12M dash:
There must be a mistake about the top speed of this car. By 57, the American Interstate System was well underway, as were expressways here in Canada. These were meant to be in competition with the Hillman Minx, for one, and Ma did an 80 mile daily round trip commute on the expressway with her 54 Minx. It is a cute little car, but it will be very slow, that's for sure. Still, beautiful condition for an in town runabout. Room for the dogs, too.
