I love the '56 - my favorite of the tri-5's... Here's a pic of a '56 Nomad I was building. I got in over my head and ended up selling it before it was completed. ...moral of the story - take your time and don't get over your head. You'll end up owning a beautiful car instead of wishing for the past...
Yes, this is some darn good advice 442wagon, thanks. I am chomping at the bit to get some stuff done but really can't do it yet without undue stress. In the meantime I bought a 12 dollar polisher and my kids and I are rubbing the surface rust off with compound and just giving general love and gasoline to the beast. Someone said it's focusing on wanting what you got vs getting what you want.
That second line is worthy of a Forum Signature, especially here, where we really work hard at wanting we got and giving 'em a new lease on life. Nicely said.
Thanks S.N. but I deserve no credit, only passing these words along. Hey 442 wagon, I forgot the most important part of my response to your post......WHAT A SICK NOMAD! I love it! Please tell me more about it. How far did you get and where is it now? You were obvoiusly smoothing the trim-mounting holes and door handles. What material was being used? I love the ride height. Did it drive that low or was she on air bags. Have a great day.
I had done a TON of mods to the car. The hood was pancaked, all the corners were radiused, the front bumper was flipped upside-down. The doors were suicide, the tailgate dropped into the rear floor and disappeared, VW projection headlights, etc. It had a ZR1 Corvette motor with a 700R4, and airride suspension. A divorce and some legal tangles put an early end to the project. I've actually been trying to locate the car. Last I heard, it was someplace in Alabama or Georgia in a body shop. Supposedly, they had added caddy taillights and some other things... I don't believe the car was ever finished... Here are a couple more pics:
