    What OPA Zone are you on? I had a friend that had a Studebaker dealership in Effingham, IL and he made a killing after the war buying used cars in St. Louis and running them through the Chicago auction cause you could get almost $200 more in the Chicago market. Another misguided government program.

    Grandpa put a deposit on a new Ford after he got home from Europe. After waiting for 6 months or so he decided he needed a car, and any car would do. So he wound up with a Fiat of all things.
    I remember hearing this story when I was a kid and being bummed that Grandpa never got his 46 Ford and had to settle for a "jitney" (as he referred to them) until a few years later when he was able to upgrade to a 42 Oldsmobile.
