I found a supplier website that carries Classic Metal Works vehicles, and according to the page that has the '67 Custom 4-door, they have them for about $8, which is less than I paid for the fire chief car. Now I just have to come into some extra money.... http://greenwayproducts.com/storeroom/vehicles/autos/index.html
I have bought from them before at model train shows. If you want any of those discounted and discontinued 1/87 scale vehicles, it would probably be best to order them before the next "Great Model Train Show" in Timonium, Maryland which is in mid-June. I see they still have the 1/87 scale 1953 Ford Country Squire wagons in stock as well. Those will be difficult to find soon too.
I went to a train show at the old Milwaukee Road freighthouse (Freighthouse Square) and picked up a few items: the Bachmann 85' autorack car with 10 of the original 15 cars, so the car will be paired with an Athearn TOFC flat to make it worth running; a single Monogram '69 Mustang (brings my total to 3 or 4, and he charged me $9 for it!); and an ERTL 1949 Peterbilt conventional with matching 40' REA trailer. Damn thing's made of metal! It'll really weigh down a flatcar! Anyway, I'll get pics and post them up this week. Oh, and I got a Bev-Bel custom-painted NP Wide-Vision caboose, all ready to roll.
Oops! I forgot I was going to post pics. Since nobody called me on it, I didn't realize it until I wanted to post tonight. But I have the photos on my phone, and Dad and I are hitting another show this Saturday in Bremerton, so if I find others I'll snap and post 'em. I promise I won't forget this time....
Heres a rarely seen 1/87 scale wagon on E-bay. A Marx 1957 Country Squire made in the late 50's and early 60's as a flat car load. It was never sold separately. This is Not mine. http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-MAR...434193?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item3390309191
Heres a 1/87 scale 1961 Plymouth Savoy 2 door wagon by Revell sitting at a Texaco station on my layout and a 61 Valiant wagon on my layout as well (also by Revell).
In this picture on my layout theres a 1/87 scale Falcon wagon by Road Ragers, a 48 Ford woody wagon by Classic Metalworks, and a 53 Country Squire by Classic Metalworks.
But you live in Washington. I'm only 20 miles from Washington. Well....Washington, DC that is. I might be just a little farther away from you. Heres another little 2" long 1/87 scale Revell 1961 Valiant on my layout. Although its not a wagon, Dodge advertised the A-100 van as a wagon back in the 60's. The 1/87 scale Dodge A-100 is made by Brekina. The 53 Ford Country Sedan in the background is made by Classic Metalworks. This is part of a removable section on my HO scale train layout.
I picked up one of these off of ebay a couple of months ago. Mine is also missing the rear bumper. Any ideas if they are supposed to have one? Thanks for sharing. Love your layout.
Thanks. I have one of the Marx 57 Ford wagons with the rear bumper and one without. The rear bumper appears to come off easily and are easy to loose.
Well, as far as vehicles are concerned, a big zero. Got a Walthers FA-1 loco in SP&S "wideband" paint scheme for $35, 4 Intermountain Railway GN boxcars for $50, and an old, old, but never built Silver Streak GN wood boxcar, actually made from wood and castings, from the 1960s, for $25. Here's the cars I got at the Tacoma show 2 weeks ago:
