I know there are a lot of folks on this forum who use their trailers to tow their RV's.

It would be fun to see what you have for a set up. Got some pictures you are willing to share?

The '35 Ford pulling the 17' Boler trailer is CS54's other toys. He also has the '54 Ford wagon he's used for years to haul the Boler and now he'll be towing (in addition - eenie meenie minie mow as to what to tow with and what to tow) his new to them Airstream Tradewind. The '35 Hudson behind our Safari and Airstream is another buddies who also tows with a '55 Belair.

ThanksSafari57 I will try to keep checking this thread as long as my broken heart can stand it. Our dreams have been to tow an antique RV with one of our old vehicles. So far it hasn't happened.

Geez, Rev, I go away for a few days and things go all to heck. These little suckers are hugely popular. A lot of ladies who belong to this group "Ladies on the Fly" (No, no guys, - it is a fishing group :whew:) use these and doll them up (chick-a-fie them, so to speak). We saw many of them on the road and being used on our trip.

So, something "neat"? There is an Airfloat for sale in Seattle. A tad pricey but they are very trick trailers. One of your cohorts happens to have one. We saw some pretty unique trailers while away, but they are 1,500 miles or more one way to get to them and they are a tad pricey.

Tedy - you would not believe how many people go camping with their dogs just to get them out to places where they are really able to have fun without bothering the neighbors.

Well dang.. I tried getting a thread like this going and it died on the vine. Hopefully yours will be more successful.

I'm currently setting / restoring my wagon to pull my '68 Shasta.. it's a 13 footer.. but I think I'm going to be on the lookout for a 16 - 18 footer. Something with a little more room.

Since the wagon isn't done yet I can't show a pic of it in tow.. but here's the Shasta...

Rev - there is no sense doing things half arsed. Looking forward to seeing the Silver Streak. My neighbor bought my '58 Silver Streak, a Chico model, and restored it. You'll have to take a boo at that one, it is stunning. It is also painful to have it sitting two doors away now that he has done all the hard work on it. He also has a '48 Airstream Clipper he intends to restore next and is keeping his options open on what to use for a vintage tow vehicle. It will be either a 50's wagon or Suburban.

I noticed something on your avatar - it would seem that you have a few more wagons than I thought

If you give me a days notice the neighbor works till early evenings but he is keen to see your trailer too. If we know when you are going to be around he will make it a point to be here if he can.

Geez, Super, I must have missed that thread when you started it, or perhaps been out camping. For some reason it seems that wagon owners tend to be camera shy with their rigs.

Very pretty Shashta - they are hugely popular as you must know. The larger ones also often come with a toilet - a handy item to have for the spousal unit on those cooler nights.

The '58 will make an excellent tow vehicle (TV). Thank you for posting the pics.

73super I agree the 13' looks really nice but is way too small.
[IMG]We've camped all our lives but never really owned a large rig. The biggest was a 30' motorhome. Most were RV trailers from 19' to 25'. We now have a 21' RV. I'd love to get an older Shasta, Airstream, or similar 50's RV to pull.
Yes, the toilet is a necessity now that we have matured. A tree in the middle of the nite, or a long dark walk to a restroom does not seem like fun.:rofl2:

Over the years my wife's and my sleeping patterns have diverged. She is a late night person, I'm a very early riser, plus I am up and down often through the night. Having the ability to sit up at the table, make breakfast, tea/coffee, and using the bathroom without waking the other was a key consideration when we bought first the 1951 Airstream, and then.........we realized that with a then 16 year old cat traveling with us we also needed space for his "stuff". Thus we moved to the 1960 Airstream which allows us to put the litter box in the shower pan, his food off to the side in there, and it did not add much weight over all. Still able to tow it with the wagon. They got heavier in to the later sixties and onward, so vintage was a benefit for more than just "working well with the wagon". A toilet has been a blessing - as we've traveled we've found that some camp grounds are great at keeping their washroom facilities clean and fully functional, others though, you are almost afraid of using. And there are a few you just won't use - like one spot in Yuma - gross would be the starting point to how ugly the washrooms are.

We see a lot of vintage towing vintage in the PNW. Within our car club we have had a 33 Chev, 38 Ford, 33 Plymouth coupe, 48 Pontiac, 36 Chev, 55 Belair, 56 Ford pickup, 56 Nomad, and a 57 Ford retractable all pulling small fiberglass Bolers, Bigfoot copies, and Beachcombers and Trilliums, a 35 Ford pulling a 17' Boler also pulled by a '54 Ford wagon (CS54 on the forum) and over the years with the Safari we've hauled 17' TravelAire, 17' Boler, 21' Airstream and now the 24' Airstream. The 33 Plymouth now tows a 17' Airstream. All of the above are vintage trailers although in the last three years several have traded in their fiberglass trailers for modern larger trailers. CS54 is also intending to tow his new-to-him 24' 1959 Airstream with his '54 Ford wagon. When a group of us go camping it creates quite a stir at gas stations, in the camp grounds, and is a ton of fun. It is a flash back for most of us who camped with our parents as kids and then as young adults. We have one couple who hot rodded a mid 70's GMC front wheel drive motorhome with the intent of towing their '48 Jeep wagon (also hotrodded) as their toad. Our car club has gone to a camping club in most ways and we have a lot of fun. At the Tin Can Tourists camp outs there a tons of vintage cars, mostly wagons and Suburbans from the early 70's and back, towing trailers. If you get a chance, head out to one of their shows in your area and you'll see some very unique tow vehicles.

I'm from the PNW too... I don't think we have Tin Can Tourists events in this area do we?

I'd sure like to see some pics of your group if you wouldn't mind emailing or even posting some? Do you have pics of some of your camp outs and some of your groups cars/trailers?

Sounds like fun! Too bad you're in BC.... lol. :dancing:

I have always thought it'd be sweet to have a vintage trailer for my Studes.
But last month I ended up buying this bus instead~

But I'd love to see those trailers!!! Maybe you BC guys could drop in on a little shin-dig my Stude Club is putting together in September? http://forum.studebakerdriversclub.com/showthread.php?58226-Big-Studebaker-Event-In-Bellingham-WA.&p=633214#post633214

While most of the weekend's events are geared towards the StudeFolks, we're also putting on a mixed make car show on Sunday. It'd be a pretty sweet deal to have those cool cars with trailers in tow at our show...

Let me know- 'cuz I might have to pull some strings to get you a special invite for the StudeEvents.
(if you wanna do them, that is)
