    "SOLD"......

Said it has a flathead 8 in it, so I'd guess it was Pontiac or Buick or something......did Ford still sell the flathead V8 in '53? Thought it was done by then.

I believe 53 was the last year for the Ford flat head. Almost positive.

I think Silverfox is right on the Ford flathead. I think Chrysler may still had a flathead 6 at that time also.

I know the flat head Ford V8 was still around in Canada. I once apon a time owned a canadian made 53 Meteor 2 door sedan with the flat head V8.

1953 was the last year for the flathead in the U.S.A. In Canada the flathead lasted until 1954. I had at one time a 1954 Meteor glasstop with the flathead, but it was more project than I was wanting to tackle at the time. The Canadian Ford & Meteor glasstops were the only glasstops allowed at the v8 club of America meets because they were the only ones with flathead engines. not sure if that is still the case
My 54 wagon is a U.S. built car so had the overhead valve 239 originally. 54 U.S. and 55 Canadian fords were the first ones with ball joint suspension as well.
