http://www.shakervalleyauto.net/item197687.ctlg Actually, I've seen this car and it is in amazing condition...
I think you'd be surprised. An AMC Eagle wagon went for $7500 recently on Ebay and it had more miles than that Hornet.
There was one of these, bright yellow, not great condition but looked like a driver, on the road between Astoria, OR and Fort Stevens State Park, with a for sale sign on it. Looked like it had been there for a while. I didn't stop to get details as we were always with someone when going past.
with a 401, i might pay that much for it. I love unpopular cars for their oddity. I just expect to pay ugly car prices.
Wow, what a survivor, for sure. To be honest, I was not a big fan of Ramblers/AMC growing up, but I absolutely love them now. Their styling was so unique. Remember those Cassini designed Matadors in the 70's? Now there was a "unique" looking car. I know it's not a wagon, but I can't resist posting a pic of one.
The Matador sedans and wagons of that period had completely different bodys. I remember thinking at the time why didin't AMC design 4-door and wagon versons of the 'coupe' body - it looked soooo much better........
I was thinking the same thing but real. I wonder if any one has attempted an actual wagon model of the Matador coupe to wagon mod.
That would be one difficult project....... But it would look cool when done. I have no photoshopping skills, but I would envision something on the back end that sort of gives a 'hint' of 'Pacer wagon'.......lots of glass, low beltline. Maybe even some sort of vista roof.......
