1947 Mercury Woodie Wagon for sale on BaT Auctions - ending April 11 (Lot #70,318) | Bring a Trailer Another Woodie will probably get to around $40,00 and be a no sale. We will see. it is nice.
With today's market for woodies, I'm sure it'll snag much more than $40,000 if there are serious buyers bidding on it. I had a quick scan through the pictures in the listing and the only minor thing I noticed was that you can see daylight through the edges of the rear driver's side door and driver's door from the inside in picture #116. Otherwise, that seems to be a really nice example.
Looking at bring a trailer auctions since Jan 2021 there have been 20 woodies go to auction. 5 went for above 50k , and the majority were no sales. Most bid to around $40k with no sale.
Yeah, these seem to bring big money. However, with the 15 or so woodies that have bid in the $40,000 range with no sale, it makes me wonder if the high prices and the market is starting to cool a bit on these. It seems more and more people are only willing to pay in the $40,000 range for one. The one listed above is sitting at $25,000 with 2 days to go. We'll have to see what happens. Cheers.
I would love to have this one. Or something like this. I want to get a woody(!) - first thing in the morning(!) load up my tackle box and boony hat and do some good old-fashioned trout fishing. Take along a vintage cooler with a sangwich or two and a thermos. Not a care in the world. Lottery dreams I tell ya....
Reminds me of the many mornings me and my grandfather used to spend together when I was a kid and into my teens. Although, usually there were no trout and it was mostly bluegills or bass, and his car wasn't a 40s woodie wagon - he had a 1992 Chrysler LeBaron with a landau roof - but hey, it worked for me. I was with my grandpa. I only got to see him once or twice a year, so the days I'd get to go fishing with him were always special.
Yep. some of life's most cherished moments come from fishing. And it isn't even about catching the nicest or biggest bass or muskie. And this ol' Merc woody would just be the icing on the cake....
Five years ago a mint version of this car would probably bring $75k-$125k. Nowadays the same types of cars struggle to hit $40k. I think they are cool, but I wouldn't want to have to deal with the upkeep of the wood.
Sold for $53,400 on 4/11/22 made it out of the 40's and sold. reading on this it was pieced together, so not numbers matching etc.
