Could be a beautiful car, but it does not show very well in the pictures at all.

Well, the car looks to be a nice example, but certainly not $25,000 good! It just bothers me to no end when people use hyperbole to inflate certain cars to some unattained "collector status", simply to cash in on the Barrett-Jackson effect. When people rise to the ridiculousness of calling cars like this "a piece of automotive history" in an attempt to make it worth more than it is, it's pretty sad. Unfortunately, ads like this have become increasingly common and it's almost gotten to the point where if a car is older than 20-25 years old it's perceived as "collectible" to ride the wave of some fever dream the seller has about their inflated perception of value.

Anyway, I have no issue with the car whatsoever, it's just the ridiculous lengths some people go to make some cars into something they aren't. I suppose there's always someone out there who will pay such prices, but this kind of greed isn't good for our hobby at all. Soon everything is going to be priced into the stratosphere and accessibility for people wanting to get into the hobby is going to vanish, which I don't think is a good thing for anyone in the long run. *steps off of soapbox...

    My thoughts exactly! :rofl2:

    Uhg. :slap::slap::slap:
If it were the first of this model generation off the production line or the last...... maybe. Maybe.
Wood on black is a great look, though. I'd drive it.

Is it black or really dark blue? I don't know the Buick color palette for 1993, but it looks dark blue to me in some of the pics. Would also match the blue interior better.

To a certain degree, the '94 - '96 Roadmaster Estates ARE attaining 'collector value' status, if in excellent condition. The earlier models, from '91 - '93, without the LT-1 version of the 350 Chevy V8 did not. Most '93 models had a 350 as I recall, but the LT-1 wasn't available until '94.

Beat me to it in posting this one! I'm just happy to see that the woodgrain is properly applied on this Ontario wagon. :D

Yeah, I could see that price for a car like that, but a I just don't see it for a '93, even in that condition with those miles.

You know, it's funny. When I first looked at the pics in the ad I just assumed it was black, but looking at it now the highlights on the car almost looks like it could potentially be a very dark navy blue. Which would "match" the interior colour.

Well, I supposed everything eventually has its day, but as I mentioned above, for a '93, I just don't see 25 grand for it, even in that condition and mileage. Don't get me wrong, a car like that would be a great cruiser, but I just don't see the price the seller is asking for it. I've never seen a '91-'96 one of those go for anywhere near that kind of money. Ever.

I guess the proper woodgrain application is worth another $10,000+! :D

I always find it amazing how many people think their car is deserving of high price. All they have to do is to search on BAT, Hemmings, Kijiji (in Canada) Craigslist (in the U.S.) for their car model and they can get a pretty good idea of a reasonable price for their car. Yet they seem oblivious to this simple idea. :grumpy:

Case in point. Saw this description of a car for sale.

"Are you looking for a great winter project or have you been looking for a <blart> for years !!!! Here’s your project car with only 155,000km it won’t be for sale long !!!!!!! No it isn’t on the road and yes it needs work …make me an offer I can’t refuse and show up with cash in hand and a tow truck !!!!!! Low ballers will be ignored dont waste my time and I won’t waste yours."

Sure, I'm going to rush out with a tow truck or trailer and $8,000 cash in had and buy the car that you can't tell me anything about in your ad because you're kind of lazy or you don't know what it needs.

    Sorry. Starting to rant.

Yeah, I've seen an increasing number of ads like that too.

I wish I had screen saved an ad I saw about a year ago for a 1965 Impala 2 door hardtop that was in rough, but certainly restorable shape and he was selling it for $1,500. In the ad description, the owner actually went on a long rant of his own, but for the good. He actually delved into how frustrated and sickened he was at how rare it is to see cars that are priced at or even under their listed values these days, and how wrong he felt it was to sell his car (or any car) for a higher price, simply to make more money. He went on to state that his car was a #5 condition car and was being sold at a very fair price compared to its listed value. Because that's what he thought was right.

I was so impressed with his ad that I wound up contacting him, just to say how refreshing it was to see someone who wasn't out to make the most money possible with their car. He replied and said another 5-6 people had contacted him, just to convey the same sentiments, even though they were not interested in the car. He seemed to be a nice guy and we wound up sending several messages back and forth about cars and other topics, but the pricing and content of his ad really was quite refreshing in a sea of ever-increasing prices.

I just went back in my email to find our correspondence and amazingly, I clicked on the link for his ad and the pictures are still in the site's archive. Sadly, the ad description is no longer available, but here's a screencap and some pictures from the ad:

Same, but a part of me also feels it's an important conversation to have.
