Way overpriced. 1979 Oldsmobile Cutlass Cruiser - cars & trucks - by owner - vehicle... (craigslist.org)
I would question whether it actually has a 350 V8 under the hood...... As far as I know, the only 350 V8 you could get in these was a diesel.
It's not a 350 but a 305 4BBL. I dug out an '80 Olds brochure, '79's had esentially the same engine lineup. That 305 was rated for a rousing 150HP.
I don't know. It seems about right to me. It is a clean A/G-Body wagon. From what we can see the interior looks like it is in great shape as are the paint and body. I don't like the left over woodgrain trim or the white walls, but they aren't the end of the world. The car is 40+ years old so it could have had an engine swap at some point. If you want to see overpriced come look at the clapped out '91 full size Bronco I drive by everyday on my way to work that they are asking $15k for.
According to the 1979 Olds brochure, for the Cutlass models, the engine options were as follows: Standard engine: 231 V-6 gasoline with 2-bbl carb Optional engines: 1. 260 V-8 gasoline with 2-bbl 2. 260 V-8 diesel 3. 305 V-8 gasoline with 4-bbl 4. 350 V-8 diesel (available only on the Cutlass Cruiser) 5. 350 V-8 gasoline with 4-bbl (available only on the Cutlass Cruiser, high-altitude applications) So this car could have a 350 gas engine, depending on where in the country it was sold originally.
The 350 seems like a good upgrade, no rust, good interior, and sheet metal/ paint also good. In todays inflated market $6,500 looks in the ballpark to me.
