Well optioned and 460 V8 for just $1150. https://denver.craigslist.org/cto/d/conifer-1973-ford-ltd-wagon/7157480390.html
It hasn't run in years, and it has some unfortunate rust-through in several places. I'd want to see the undercarriage, among other things. It is only $1150, but you're buying into a boatload of work if you want to make it nice. You're probably better off spending a bit more and getting something that's in better shape to start with. It is nicely optioned, though, which will be difficult to duplicate.
I don't know. That looks like it could be a pretty decent car if it were cleaned up. Parking on a dirt floor isn't great, but it is in Denver so it might not be too bad. The lower rear quarter panel rust stinks, but if that is the worst of it that is not bad at all. The paint on the tailgate is rough, but the paint on the rest of the car could be pretty decent once you washed all of the dirt and crap off of it. I bet you could have this thing running and driving with a day or so of work. I don't really care for the 70's full size Fords, but this could be a diamond in the rough for somebody that does.
That’s what I was thinking, other than Cruise control and power mini vents, not sure about seats, but that thing is LOWded. Also 1st year for the LTD wagon. I think you’re right about the paint. A completely through was and buff in would be a good huge step. The thing that makes me feel it’s pretty complete is that the rails along the roof rack are not peeled do-noc. Looks like the backend would be your only paint issue, unless bird crap ravaged the top, but something tells me it would be a diamond in the ruff
Dang ! I hope a " DERBY " guy doesn't snap this up!! I called the gal and its' been a local Denver car since New. And her Dad bought it in 79. Supposedly Only parked since 09 because he got a New truck. I'm SO tempted to at least get it and give it a Bath and find a good home. But, I really am Swamped at the present itme. SUPER-loaded for it Not being a Squire too.
I was kind of wondering if this might peak your interest. I was actually thinking of driving up to Denver to look at this car. It really looks pretty solid.
I believe the location is Conifer ( fairly rural community) maybe 45 mins from Denver. I'm " Tempted " to drive-up. If I do, I'll post some pictures. I ONLY want to Save the car. Not make a penny on it !
Well if you pluck it out of there, and have any assessment on it please keep me posted here or through PM. I too would hate to see this lovely car chasing around in a circle.
Well we were both on the same page. Thanks for your efforts on my behalf I just hope we see it down the road as a prize in somebody’s collection. Or we may see it back up on another CL post.
It’s funny how these cars dodge bullets. I recently bought a ‘77 LTD Landau from the daughter of the original owner. She was pleased that it was going to a good home. The old mans next door neighbor told her he would give her $800 for it, cause all he wanted was the 460 for his truck. I have gotten to the point I won’t sell a car to someone if I don’t have a good vibe about the cars longevity.
That's a good point. Many of these old ones are vulnerable because a buyer wants the drivetrain only!
