It can be very cool. And out of sight price wise. You couldn’t build it for that, but who really wants it?
Back around 1976, I started helping a Little League team with coaching. One of the players' parents owned a '72-ish Ford Club Wagon (apparently, they didn't attach the 'Falcon' name to the passenger versions then, nor did they attach the 'Econoline' name). It was similar in appearance to the one pictured, except it was a nice beige / orange-ish combination. I fell in love with that van, er 'Club Wagon'. I wanted it. Didn't NEED it, but I WANTED it.....
I'd say a van is certainly a long roof, and I concur with marknc that many of them, when listed, were grouped in with the wagons (VW called their Kombi a wagon) but I would say that a van is a classification all unto itself. Heck, Ford even included Broncos in some of their "wagon" ads and I am pretty sure that chivy included the Blazer and Suburban in some of their wagon ads too. But I wouldn't consider a Bronco a wagon either.
