Wonder how effective that rear AC was? Was Chrysler Corp the only one to offer it in their wagons? Did they use a bigger compressor in these? Bigger condenser?

The dual a/c option in the Furys was $600

 

The dual A/C option in the big Chrysler Corp. wagons goes all the way back to '61 or '62 I think......
Probably a requirement for hot areas, but if you really don't ABSOLUTELY need it, it would be a pain due to the room it takes up in the cargo area.....

 

Which, according to the google machine translates into $3,604.40 in today's dollars.

Oh and Thomas G, I noticed that you have been a member since 2010, but this is your first post. Assuming that isn't an error, I'd like to say welcome, congrats on the first post.

 

Probably similar to how they do them in current vehicles. Put an extra evaporator in the back and lines running from the engine compartment back which obviously requires extra refrigerant. I hate working on vehicles with rear A/C. That many more places for leaks.

 

We have dual AC systems on our school buses here in GA. They are 2 separate systems. 2 compressors on engine.
