1994 Ford Taurus wagon

Only $700. The car looks pretty darn good for that price. It apparently needs a few things, but what car doesn't? Just over 100,000 miles isn't bad, either. Someone could have some fun with this car.

you find these quite often even with low low miles for very reasonable price;and they are great drivers

 

If they're set up like the Tauruses sold in Europe, they should be, since they're not front wheel drivers. Here's a Scorpio of which is considered an ugly car. I like it, though. It's sort of a modern Edsel:

 

Most all Taurus's were/are front wheel drive.

To my knowledge all US speck Taurus' were front wheel drive. Even the SHO had power going to the front wheels.

 

They were probably set up like the 2000 Mondeo wagon I used to drive where they crammed the engine compartment tight, in order to offer plenty of front leg room. This made everything under the hood unpleasant to service.
Despite the Scorpio being longer and possibly having less cargo capacity, I would have chosen it over the Mondeo, if I have had a choice, simply because of the rear drive

 

I believe some of the newer ones, from the last two generations could be equipped with AWD.....

They're still a FWD platform though. No Taurus was ever RWD.

 

I had a 2001 Taurus wagon like this one 2001-2005.

 

It depends on the engine. The DOHC motors -- both the V6 and the V8 -- were reputed to make the engine compartment pretty tight, but the pushrod motors were reasonable for a front-driver. Or so I've heard from several trusted mechanics who said the 12 valve 3.0 was the one to go with.
