1971 Chevrolet Kingswood

Bad looking rust.

Frankly, the current bit of $255 is about all this one deserves. Lots of questions on this one, particularly since it doesn't start.

 

An understatement if there ever was one.

I notice that there are no photos of the car's underneath. I wouldn't be surprised to find that the frame on this car is so rusted that it is actually unsafe to drive and could crack into two or more pieces if it went over the right bump hard enough. With that rust, cracked dash, etc. etc. etc., I would say that this car is barely worth $50. I wouldn't take it if it was handed to me for free.

 

I'd think it's a parts car at best.

 

Have to be careful with this seller. I bid ( and won ) an auction last December on a cheap Buick Park Avenue, maybe 2003. I called ahead of time and made sure I was on their bidders list. Then I've never seen this happen, I got the you won item message from eBay but the seller cancelled my bid and sold it to someone else. I called and got the standard "you didn't do something or the other". And of course eBay didn't do anything about it. Very questionable seller.

I wonder if it's worth it to a local for the glass. The windshield looks chipped though.

On another subject, this is the rustiest clam wagon I've seen and I won't mind of someone derbies it. Good to know the roof could get so bad, I knew the rear side windows are also a problem area and this car's a great example of both at once.

 

Sold for $1225 plus $100 doc fee. Just wondering if that’s a big block in there? Looks like it from the picture of the one valve cover.

 

The fender emblems say it has the 400.

 

Well those were the years I believe where there were two Chevy engines referred to as 400’s. The 396/402 big block and the small block 400. That valve cover sure looks curved like the big block version. Just wondering what the specific option in the Kingswood would have been for that year. Maybe the VIN would denote it.

Thanks. Researched it a bit as well and interesting how GM called this 71 engine a 396 in for example Chevelles, 402’s in pickups and a 400 in full size cars like this wagon.
