1971 Cadillac Fleetwood wagon

I don't recall seeing a 1971-76 Cadillac wagon conversion before this one that was an actual GM clamshell conversion.

I don't know whether there was more of the clamshell conversions, or the other type.

Here's one of the 'other' types...

 

The clams I have seen have the actual clam leaf spring rear frame. The others have a regular coil spring setup. One of them had a C-Channel 60-70 style rear frame.

I have seen a couple clams like this but this is the oldest I have seen

Here's a 73, is it just me or is this one shorter than the 71 above? Maybe it's just the camera angle?

The only thing I don't really like about these is they didn't change the roof or middle doors to look right. I've seen an 85 that did:

 

I don't know why but I have always wanted to own one of these.

 

The 1971 currently for sale says it is based on the Sixty Special, which would account for the greater length, I think.

Oh I know why. it's very rare, it's humongous, and It's ugly. Gas mileage would be horrific tho So I don't know why i'd really want it yanno

 

For the same reason I don't wear tattoos, probably. In other words, to be different than the rest.
