I'm loving this one!

 

Too bad about the rust on the front edge of the hood. Seems like that could be taken care of fairly easily since it doesn't look like it has spread too far. Very nice-looking car.

 

Surprised at no bids yet. Start price is not unreasonable.

 

$3100 with reserve not met.

There's a certain decayed rattiness about it that's a bit off-putting. I don't like that chunk of dashboard missing from the far left end, and I don't like the big pad on top of the dash. Let's see the whole car, warts and all. What worries me is that there are a lot of warts under there.

I agree that it's an overall not-bad-looking car, but I think his opening bid price of $3,000, which apparently is the minimum he'll take as there is no reserve, is a bit high. Frankly, given the rust and the other issues, this is at most a $2,000 to $2,500 car.

The previous auction ended at $3,100, which apparently now is enough to buy the car. I wonder if he approached the high bidder about taking the $3,100 bid, and the bidder changed his mind.

 

Unfortunately, that corner on the dash is extremely vulnerable to knees knocking into it as you enter/exit, thus they always cracked and busted on these Buicks. I've owned 4 and all were cracked there.

I'm sorry, but this makes no sense. That part of the dash is above the level of the turn signal stalk. You'd have to be 10 feet tall for your knees to reach that height while you're sitting in the normal position behind the wheel. No, that deterioration at the end of the dash on the driver's side is due to something else. Given the dark-color deterioration of the steering wheel itself in the lower left quadrant and the presence of the cover over the entire top of the dash, there is something else going on here.

 

It was cracked there on my 77 also (just cracked not broken off) so I can also say it is a common spot to go on the 73-77 Buick Century dash's. Mine was actually flaw free with the exeption of that spot.

 

Currently one bid at $3000 with reserve met.

 

I suppose that does sound strange! However, the car sits so low that as you sit your backside is down on the seat, you swing your legs in, your knees knock that corner. I drive a '74 Century everyday and knock that edge with my knees most days.
