https://www.classic-trader.com/us/cars/listing/buick/estate-wagon/estate-wagon/1976/8187 I cannot figure out how to copy pics.
I just rt click on the picture, click on copy, and them paste them here. But that web site will not allow it. That is a unique looking 2 tone paint job. I wonder if the chrome trim dividing the colors is stock (or the 2 tone for that mater) and some of the interior detail look odd to me. But if it was an export car, Or if they were making GM B-body's in Ramos Mexico by 76 (my 78 Impala Wagon was made there) if it was assembled there for the Mecican market it could have some differences than the US destined cars. But by the way the tailgate is sitting I think it has the infamous clamshell tailgate cracked regulator. A repair I never want to perform.
Yes, the tailgate's sitting lower on the passenger side. Interesting paint job, is it just me or does the car look shorter than it is because of the paint job? I'm not sure if it's the paint or the pictures.
Not only is the tailgate itself (the skin, if you will) wavy but the "shell" part of the tailgate has damage, probably from rust. That is the reason it sits so low on the passenger side. I've seen this a thousand times on clamshell wagons, the bottom of the shell rusts out and causes a sagging issue. The tailgate should be even across and no drooping from the driver side to the passenger side. The bottom of the shell will need rebuilt. The paint, moldings, emblems, etc are not stock nor were they ever available on any Buick wagon. Someone's idea of "customization"...
There are ways. Yes, that tailgate is a disaster and a half. Weird dents all the way across the back. Right side sagging significantly. Would like to know a lot more about this situation given the $11k asking price. What's interesting is that the tailgate trim strips that stretch all the way across do not appear to be sagging. It's as though he took them off and repositioned them so they would look straight and parallel to the ground even though the tailgate itself is sagging. The car is in Mexico City. A long way to go to get it.
You'd have to be crazy to buy that car at any price. The engine size does say 5,700 ccm then factory 7,468 so it had a 455 and now has a 350. That thing must be a dog. It says matching numbers too, what numbers match ?? "Cubic capacity (ccm)5,700 (Factory: 7,468)"
This car is a hunk of shat! Bondo all over 1/4's around rear windows! You can tell its leaked water in the back also. My guess on the tailgate is it probably had a trailer hitch and the trailer came unhooked and hit the gate OR it was ass ended and the bumper was replaced or it went over top of it. It's a 2500-3000 piece of derby meat IF you could drive it for a year or 2
