It's a beauty. I don't know if he'll get $15,500 for it, but he does have a "make offer" option.

With a full restoration, you'd think you would want to make the moldings and wood grain between front fender and driver door match up exactly.

And with a *full and proper* restoration one would think
they would have addressed the 8 track and exhaust adjustment
as well as making the A/C work....
"appraised at 13000$" and he wants 15000$ ...
I do not see even half of that....

I met the owner last week at a show in Ann Arbor. It is a nice wagon but the folks who did the restoration pieced things together and it shows. The issue with the trim jumps out at you. Old Cars price guide says a #1 condition is worth $6,000.

Wasn't there some guy on here several years ago that was having a Chrysler dealership restore a '75 Dodge wagon for him? Could be the same car.

Ahh, here we go. I cannot access Facebook at work to verify if this is the same car, but I don't know of too many people doing restorations on '75 Dodge Coronet Customs in the Livonia, Michigan area.

Has to be the same car...
It is the only car I have ever heard of being restored by a dealership...

Good Pick up Kevin! I love the fact that some of you guys on this forum pretty well know or recognise just about every really good classic wagon out there and you are right, it is the same wagon. It looks like it has had an issue with the wood matching the fender to the front door on the drivers side from day one.

From the FB page, the passenger side is applied in one hit without any real noticeable issues
    [IMG]

on this side the gaps between the fender and the door seem to work ok
    [IMG]

and the end result before the trim was applied looks pretty good
    [IMG]

Once the trim was put back on, the match could have been a tiny bit better to be perfect but it is still ok and certainly within spec for its age.

However when it came to the other side it was a different story because they were certainly fiddling their way around this area for some reason
    [IMG]

it was probably because they must have spent a bit of time matching the wood pattern between the two panels however this was masking the real problem as you can clearly see that the clip studs that fasten the trim into place do not line up very well though
    [IMG]

At this stage, I think they must have realised
    [IMG]

    but it was too late!

The door has probably sagged, which is typical for the drivers door over the years, or the fender has been slightly distorted from a past fender bender, but either way this should have been sorted by the body shop before it was painted.

It is so bad, it can't even be hidden from a distance!

and it spoils what would have been a great restoration.

I think it was featured in the "Wagonmasters" movie. The owner, who grew up in that wagon, inherited the car from his parents. It was in pretty rough shape when he had it restored. As for the fender trim, I think the wagon must have been built on a Monday or Friday. Has to be an issue of quality control from the factory.

It was in the movie. Nice car but it has some issues. The side trim jumps at you and misc trim on the wagon needs to be buffed / cleaned. Nothing major but for 15K it should be perfect.

Looks to me like a fender was replaced with one from a sedan and the clip pins were put on too high up. Maybe the Plymouth version had the pins in a higher location and one was used as a replacement or for a pattern. This would not have been a factory mistake, they usually only put Dodge trim on a whole side with Plymouth trim on the whole other side when they goofed up, seen plenty of that in the mid to late 70's.

Actually looking at this pic, it could quite easily have been the door that was replaced instead.Who knows but either way it is not right and certainly not factory issue.
