What a heartbreaking waste! http://www.ebay.com/itm/1970-CHEVRO...O-400-AC-/231524725352?_trksid=p2054897.l4275 What was once this: Is now this: (should be a crime).
======================= DITTO! Has to be a rare wagon as I don't remember ever seein a vinyl top on one before. Unique!
This looks like someone started stripping it for what ever reason and just stopped. It sure is a shame. The only thing I don't care for is that vinyl top. The rest is solid, so if you are fairly talented it would not likely be all that difficult to bring it back to rights.
It definitely looks like a nice solid Wagon to start a restoration. Thanks to whoever has worked on it you should be able to buy it cheap. Hopefully someone does not buy it and do a quick resale respray. I agree about the Vinyl top. Easy enough to remove.
Unless I had access to some original-looking Di-Noc, I think I would be inclined to just restore this one without the wood grain. Wouldn't be much to weld up the molding clip holes, and you're going to paint it anyway..... And obviously, it won't have a vinyl top, either. Also think it would look super in a maroon clear coat, instead of red, with Corvette rally wheels. Sort of a early-age Silverfox wagon. He'd love it.
I can see where twelve years just sitting in California would cause this. Otherwise the wagon is straight and the enterior is amazingly nice, at least in the pictures. Clean up the body, remove the wood trim and vinyl, paint it red, and drive it after checking everything, replacing fuel and brake componants, etc. Apparently someone got the bug to buy nice clean vehicles then got bored with them in a short time.
2 hours left and no bids at all. From what I read, there seems to be some question about the originality of the engine.
