Not a bad-looking car. I do like how he's doing the auction. Starting at a low price ($200) with a reserve, rather than setting the starting price at what he wants for the car and potentially watching no one bid on it. Kind of odd about having only an ignition key. I presume that means that if he should forget and accidentally lock the doors, he couldn't get into the car. Why didn't he just address this problem himself? Take the car to a locksmith, have a key made, and be done with it. It always surprises me when sellers describe a little problem the car might have. If it's so little, just get it fixed. It takes less time to fix it than it does to describe it, and the car is more attractive to potential buyers. No one likes to see negatives about a car they're considering no matter how trivial they might sound.
The ignition key in MY Ford wagon works the doors and rear door too. The round key only does the glove box and the stash compartment in the back
Dito on my 72 and it was the same for my old 80 Colony, the second key ( the oval one) works on the glove box and the way back inside the car lock, side stash compartment and as on both lock the extra seat compartment ....I honestly can't remember how my Fox body wagons were. None the less seller needs to provide some more explanation about the 1 key thing.
I am not sure when the change, but my brother's 86 Colony Park, a buddy's 87 sedan, as well as my 88 and 89 Grand Marquis sedans all had the round key for the doors. Only the Town Car kept the other way, with the square key for both doors and ignition. I have no idea why the change.
My '86 and '91 Panther wagons all have the round key for tailgate, door, glove box, and cargo box locks. The squarish key is ignition. Same on my '85 Merc GM sedan - round for trunk and glove box, square for ignition. Been that way since FoMoCo came out with the double-tooth key in the late '60s.
My 91 Grand Marquis had the square key for doors and ignition, round key for glovebox and trunk only. The square head key had two distinct sections of the cut, one section worked the door and the other section (about 3/4" of the tip) worked the ignition but both on the same key. When I replaced the ignition lock I had to have a new key cut from tip of new ignition lock and rear part of old key for doors, still have the key that came with new ignition lock and the original square key, found them after selling the car.
Sorry, but no it hasn't. As I mentioned, in my drive way rite now, my 72 Beatoer, the square key works all door locks and ignition. The oval key works the glove box and the lock for the way back seats. And then there was my 80 Colony witch was just the same.
Reserve not met at $866.79. That key might cost a few dollars at most, but it could be worth a few hundred to the sale.
