390 V8. No reserve. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1970-Ford-C...ERVE-034-/301488241744?_trksid=p2054897.l4275
Not a bad car, but too bad about the damage to the left front fender. Still, it looks pretty nice. My friend's family had one like this when I was a kid, and I always remember the weirdness with the radio being on the upper left side of the dash where only the driver could reach it, and even then then the driver had to reach around the steering wheel to get at it. I always thought that was a very poor design idea, and I don't think Ford stayed with it very long.
Great-looking car! Even with the small bit of rust. Original paint would be a real plus. Just the thing to have for those who are control freaks and don't want to have anyone playing with the radio stations while they drive.
My father had a '70 LTD 2-door, which I eventually inherited as my first car. As a teenage passenger, I hated the fact that I couldn't reach the radio. The placement does make sure your not subjected to your kids' music. It's really not that hard to operate for the driver. This dash layout was only used on 1969 and 1970 full sized Fords (and Meteors). I did make my peace with this car and its design. I've owned three 1970 Country Squires since. It's now my favorite car -- it grows on you.
Beautiful car. All it really needs is white walls! If the wood grain is not too badly damaged, it looks like that dent could be worked out, and then just replace that trim. I would, honestly, be tempted to leave well enough alone, and drive her just the way she is.
Someone jump on this one quick! 8 hours left in the no reserve auction, and the current bid is only $2,600. This could be a screamin' deal for someone ... if the seller follows through and sells it, that is.
70 Squire This car had 4 Different Bidders retract their bids yesterday!!! What's up with that ????????
Possible the bidders developed cold feet. Watch for an eBay "sniper" to bid for the car in the last five seconds of the auction. (not me - too far away for me )
70 Squire I'm thinking the seller is having friends bid on it in the last couple of hours to get a " Frenzy " going. This type of bidding just doesn't happen. And no need to " Snipe " at current bid. The car needs some hard to find stuff.
cold feet I was all set to bid on this car. Watched the auction most of the week. Then came all of the bid retractions, sure gave me cold feet. I probably would have bid more than what it had sold for but just got that gut feeling that something wasn't right. I had even contacted a shipper, I'll wait!
