Looks like a real nice original wagon -however - I do not remember shag carpeting in any AMC - someone educate me http://www.ebay.com/itm/28143376607...66078&viewitem=&sspagename=ADME:SS:SS:US:1120
Dam nice but the shagadelick carpet I agree just doesn't go with what appears to be a prime original in every other way. What the carpet should be...... Sorry for the extra large pic......
That is a very clean and unusual wagon. I don't remember the shag carpet, the fishnet storage above the visors, or those AC deflector vents. Seems to be a loaded and rare Shagcago wagon! Great photos. More sellers need to check this ad.
Brochure doesn't mention anything about shag carpet, but some of the photos look like they have something similar.
The seller says: "Everything is original on this car, including paint, interior, chrome and stainless. And yes, the carpet is the original factory shag. Not one speck of rust in this car. Interior is like new, still has original plastic seat covers on front seat, rear seat never sat in. Original 8 track stereo and it still works great!." Yet 8-track stereo wasn't introduced until 1964. Maybe he's using the word "original" very loosely. As in, added later by the first (original) owner. But a great car nonetheless!
Seems strange that it has a radio delete. I must say if that shag carpet is not original then someone spent a lot of time installing it to make it look good. Can't say I really care for it, but the rest of the car is incredible. Too bad it has the wrong 327 in it.
62 Rambler Ambassador Wagon I am the one who bought this wagon. It is incredible. And yes, that was the standard shag carpet that came with the car. The question about the 8 track is correct- it was installed in the late 60's, not by the dealer since they did not exist yet! I had another 62 but it was a classic with the 6 cyl and this 8 Cyl makes all the difference. I am getting a lot of attention- everywhere I go people crowd around it. Just gotta get the wipers working although I don't plan to drive it in the rain much!
