Sad to see so many small museums closing.
Nice looking wagons there. Can't remember if I've been there.
I'd bet these would need a lot of work to make roadworthy.

Appears to be an 'on-line' auction, as well as a 'live' auction on Aug. 20th. Not sure, but I would assume that the highest 'on-line' bid gets put up against any 'live' bid on the day of the auction. And then still the auctioneer has the right to refuse any and all bids. (Like a hidden reserve?) I don't see any mention of reserve amounts, but there's a lot of disclaimers in the auction terms.

That '63 Buick Invicta wagon is sharp! I also think there's something special about it. looking at this interior pic, I noticed it's got a non-standard electrics 'pod' forward of the door handle, similar to the power window/door lock control pod on my '81 Safari. Factory production '63 big Buicks didn't have these...... Custom silver leather interior, too.

I'm wondering if this could have been a 'auto show special' - a normal production vehicle customized a bit for the show car circuit?

I think I remember the auction site saying something about the '63 Buick Invicta wagon being a personal car of Mr. Mitchell's. I wonder if he customized it with the window controls and silver leather? It is certainly well-equipped for a wagon of this period.

I don't understand these advanced on-line bids then a real auction later. So I could be the highest on-line bidder then on the 20th someone else may outbid me??????????
Of course there are many things I don't understand.

There are a whole bunch of nice wagons here; it'll be interesting to see what they go for. Looks like it was a pretty cool museum.

I believe I read somewhere (probably Collectible Automobile Magazine) that the particular 1964 Oldsmobile Fiesta wagon body (with complete interior), is an original uncompleted car from the factory (untouched since 1964). If I recall correctly, the wagons didn't quite make the same journey down the assembly line as the other 64 Oldsmobiles. This part of the wagons were assembled off site and then trucked over to complete the assembly alongside the other Oldsmobiles. This one apparently never made that final journey to the assembly line.

And its only bid to $250 so far.

Chances are, the same is true of the 63-64 Buick wagon body that has been bid up to a whole $5.

If I had (or ever wanted) a 63 or 64 full size Buick or Olds wagon, I would be all over those two bodies.

Actually I was thinking a short cut to an easy restoration of a rusted out wagon.

Did a little research and apparently this is the Don Mitchell collection. He was the man behind Mitchell-Bently (Ionia Body) that built all of Buick's wagons from 1954-1964 and Olds from 1957-1964, at least the large body ones. I think my Ma's 63 Olds F85 Deluxe said "Fisher" on the sill plates??

So did my 1933 Chevy 4-door. Fisher. Ya know, I don't remember if my 55 wagon has that oval plate on the sills.
But now I see why this museum has so many nice older Buicks in it.
And one of those bodies left over would be great for a rusted project Buick.

Well, maybe that part is 'factory'. I looked at the '63 brochure and didn't see that the Electra 225 (at least) had those pods.
